Having grown up with their parents' rough relationship, they... don't really have much of an idea on how proper relationships work either, and even at their young age, even the idea of having a crush on another cat makes them a bit uneasy. Furthermore, Eclipsehollow gets deep into their own dramatics, occasionally over-reacting just to get attention on them and willing to toss themself to the ground and pout over small things.

Frequently one with anxieties and paranoia inside, Eclipsehollow keeps a close eye on those around them, one to easily get up into others' faces and chatter up a storm with them- though actively avoiding certain cats. Additionally, when a cat works their way to be closer with them, they start to become a bit... possessive over the other cat, sticking close to them, and even acting compulsively, if not aggressively if anything is to happen to this other cat. They constantly crave reassurance and emotional reaffirmation that they're wanted, though even when they receive this, the cat still seems to have the occasional dark thoughts floating around.

» History

[ kithood ] :

Born into WindClan to Hollowflame and Vermilionfeather, Eclipsekit was one of five kits born to the pair. It was only a matter of time before they started to be able to explore the world around them, however, they seem to stick close to their father, Hollowflame, fairly often in their youth, casting away any concept of their own gender rather quickly, too confused by it to care.

As the kit and their siblings turned 2 moons, they all woke up to discover their father Hollowflame cold and unmoving, the tom having starved to death in the night. Unable to really process this yet, Eclipsekit just shook it off, convinced that their papa was just asleep, and as time went on that he was just away! So, the kits were handed off instead to another kitbearer by the name of Cloudystream, who.. not long after Hollowflame's death, passed in the night as well. Their father Vermilionfeather did his best to instill in the kits a disbelief in StarClan, saying those who believed in it were weak. Eclipsekit still... did their best to brush this off.

As they continued to grow, their remaining father tried to instill more firmly to Eclipsekit that they were a she-kit, a girl, but the kit at that time was convinced they were going to be just like their papa Hollowflame! A boy! They couldn't be a girl if they were just like papa Hollowflame! So, Eclipsekit's identity wavered, with the kit having little grasp on it in the beginning.

Continuing to be a social butterfly as the moons went on, they started to get more secure in their identity- more secure in their sense of self- until they tried saying it around their father, Vermilionfeather. Getting hit and shoved into the ground by their remaining parent left the young cat thoroughly shaken and anxious. They know who they are... But he couldn't accept that- so- they have to hide it from their father- make sure cats keep promises to not tell him. As well, they made the decision to actively avoid the warrior- no longer seeing him as much of a father- rather.... somebody to fear.

[ apprenticeship ] :

Reaching their sixth moon, they had found the word for their identity- with the help of Sunpetal. They were... nonbinary. As well, with their sixth moon, they were given their apprentice name and mentor, Wolfheart. The freedom they felt with this change was unlike anything else they'd known.

For the first few moons, everything went... mostly alright- they embraced their newfound extra freedom, growing even closer with Wolfheart and Cricketleg- but more distant from their siblings. Eventually, things started to grow... more tense with their family relations, as they effectively tried to outwardly ignore the issues- meeting their cousins at gatherings, and making friends, making their own family. Things came to a head however after a while, with Cricketleg confronting their father- Eclipsepaw overhearing the words said by Vermilionfeather from a distance, where they had been doing tasks. It made them... sad, of course, but it also made them angry and afraid, oh how they were afraid.

It was shortly after that they'd officially disowned Vermilionfeather- not directly to the tom's face but... they had no more sympathy for the tom, no more chances remaining. Instead, the half and half apprentice started to view their mentor and Cricketleg as their father figures- until eventually, they became part of the toms' family. Sure, they still had their siblings- and they missed Hollowflame greatly, but... They needed the comfort. The security. Which they had... in a sense for a while.

Shortly before they became a warrior, they spent a little while with their brother, Cometpaw- eating, trying to reconnect- until they had to leave. The tom wouldn't let them go and frustrated, Eclipsepaw snapped at him- feeling terrible afterward. They feared they'd become like Vermilionfeather, and only relaxed a few days later, with reassurances from Wolfheart.

[ warriorhood ] :

As they reached their twelveth moon, they requested the prefix of their late father, Hollowflame, for their own suffix, to honor the warrior that had starved to death providing for them ten moons prior. For the first little bit, they went about their duties as per usual, side-eyeing their brother, Cometfeather, only a touch at his decision to take the suffix of feather. However- things changed when Quietstep was discovered... dead. Vermillionfeather being banished from camp after a confrontation, Eclipsehollow wasn't certain whether they should be relieved.... or worried. Panicked, even. While they had a newfound sanctuary within the camp once more, not having to worry about their sire within its confines anymore, it sunk in gradually. They were no longer safe in the territory alone. He could attack them and there would be no consequences for him.

Stuffing down their nerves the best they could after their sire's banishment, the long-legged enby did their best to continue to do their duties with a smile on their face.
