It's a vivitar 1000mm with 2x teleconverter unit if you ever wanted to buy one, from any brand (there are others) just be careful not to buy a 'mirror lens' because they're terrible.

Not sure how much it weighs... quite a bit though. I'll be getting a photograph of me using it at some point in the future as an ID.

An awesome shot and kind of spooky at the same time. The detail in the lower right is incredible. What a powerful lens

Good grief! A 2000mm lense? That must be HUGE. I've never seen one before.
This is an amazing shot.

It is rather large - I have to attach the lens to a tripod - not the camera to a tripod... else I risk ripping the front of the camera off due to the wieght
I'll soon be uploading a photograph of me with it as my ID.
Anywho, thank you - I'm pleased you liked the shot

Beautifully captured!
You wouldn't have any tips to dispense on shooting the moon, would you? I've tried in the past, but can never get the exposure right - any tips would be greatfully received.

Thank you Michael
Tips? Take A LOT of pictures and you'll eventually get one right For this shot I manged 1/125 (at 2000mm the lens is about F32) though maybe 1/60 would have been better. I actually ran out of film. You have to set shutter speed manually because (in my case) the camera will just see all the darkness around you and set the camera for a couple of seconds exposure or something silly like that.
Someone once told me I should get a moon filter (?) to prevent glare... though he was using a camera attached to a telescope thingy... maybe on nights with a full moon a polarizer would be a good call.
Umm, play for times like the last week or so where the moon has been low in the sky and so appears much larger than usual. Keep clear of street lights.
Buy a digital camera and be able to just keep shooting continuously until you get it I wish

Cheers, man.
I shoot digitally, so you may think that I'd have an advantage, but seriously - every time I try it, I get varied results!
Thanks for the advice.

Earth has a moon now? Fancy that.
It's a very nice shot. Now I don't need to open my curtains at night and see the moon through the terrible british rain clouds.
