She was constructed by Clarence and Bobo over the course of many months from all kinds of technological odds and ends salvaged from wasteful humans, and she helps the simian superheroes to fight nasty folk by monitoring satellite information for news of evil doings. Fans of a certain BBC comedy series should be able to guess who inspired SAL’s appearance on the facial readout monitor, and fans of another BBC comedy series will hopefully spot the reference to one of the most delightfully terrible pop songs ever recorded.
