I was inspired to make this after I made this:

These are some characters that have done things that might tick people off, whether or not it was intentional, or were just initially a bad individual, but then went through a change that expanded on their character and made them more redeemable and likable.

Now I can’t speak for everyone, but to me, I personally no longer hold any grudges that I might’ve had against any of them. This is because I think they either successfully redeemed themselves or because I just don’t feel like it’s worth being ticked off at them anymore.

When I started making this, I realized I wanted to include a lot of female characters so I made it just for them. At some point, I’ll make another one with some male characters and other females that I also feel this way about.

So is there anyone here that you forgive too?

-Sunset Shimmer (Equestria Girls)

Obviously her character arc is all about forgiveness. She didn’t just learn to earn forgiveness from others but also learned to forgive herself. Then she showed forgiveness to reformed villains that came after her. Her arc is one of the best things to come from the MLP and EG franchises and I admire it as much as anyone else. It’s also why her role as the villain in the first movie hasn’t aged that well.

-Tempest Shadow (MLP: The Movie)

Another redeemed antagonist from the MLP world. There have been a lot of them and not all have worked, but Tempest was one of the better examples and therefore deserved her redemption. They did a good job on why she was a villain as her backstory made her among the more sympathetic villains and they did a good job on her switching sides.

-Adagio Dazzle, Aria Blaze and Sonata Dusk (Equestria Girls)

They may not have been redeemed but they were such likable and interesting villains and they weren’t a threat anymore after Rainbow Rocks. They’re now more neutral than evil so I don’t find it necessary to hold a grudge against them. Not all antagonists need to be reformed but I think the Dazzlings would’ve been a better choice than some of the ones that were. They could’ve been like Discord: mostly good guys while still being somewhat mischievous.

-Diamond Tiara (MLP)

This list won’t be hogged by MLP characters. I just have to have her on here too. The way she was in the early seasons still irks me but it seems so long ago and I prefer to leave it in the past. Especially since she too had a believable redemption because they made it clear she wanted to change and she made an effort to do so and succeeded. She ended up being another who deserved her redemption.

-Heather (Total Drama)

She may not have become an actual good guy but she still came a long way after being the villain of the first season. She was always determined to play the game more than anyone and she played it more fairly and worked hard on it and was even willing to work with others making her one of the best competitors of the entire show. She went from someone who you’d root against to someone who deserved to win.

-Pacifica Northwest (Gravity Falls)

Everyone knows how she managed to impressively win the fandom over with just one episode. I never did dislike her myself. There have been far worse mean girls than her. Some that are on this list too. Not only did she oppose her family’s heritage which was the root of her evil, she did it by saving everyone. She should’ve had more episodes but one was all it took for her to earn forgiveness.

-Amity Blight (Owl House)

Another example of character development that’s main purpose was to change for the better and did a fine job of it. It’s only fair that she gets forgiveness for her past behavior. Like the others, it feels weird being reminded that she was antagonistic early on but that’s just what a proper character arc can do.

-Lilith Clawthorne (Owl House)

Her 180 degree turnaround was surprising but it is a show that’s been known to subvert expectations and there’s a good reason for her change. She suffered from the guilt of cursing Eda and the desperation of wanting to fix it that it turned her into a hardened person. When she defected from Belos and joined the Owl House group, she really softened up and became more likable. She was certain that she was finally doing the right thing and it made her as happy and close to Eda since before the curse. She deserves appreciation for her success at finding absolution.

-Lori, Luan, Lynn, Lola and Lisa Loud (Loud House)

The so-called “mean sisters” according to a trope that was doomed to fail. I put them on here to say that I never supported that trope. What good will it do to always paint this particular five as the bad guys who mistreat Lincoln while the other five are always the “nice sisters” who can’t do him any wrong? There’s no point in making things that much black and white. All the sisters are capable of doing both good and bad things. This half of the sisters might have been known to be kind of meaner than the other half and there’s definitely good reasons to not like them as characters. But as far as I’m concerned, they’ve all proven that they can be entertaining and endearing characters and I see no point in holding their past actions against them.

-Ronnie Anne Santiago (Loud House/Casagrandes)

Sure, she was somewhat of a bully. But there have been much worse than her. Some are even on this list. And I know the show didn’t quite elaborate on how she improved as a character that well. But she had a lot of potential that could be seen through her relationship with Lincoln and it was eventually shown when she got her own show which is enough for me to see her as a good character and to forgive her for who she used to be. I say she deserved better before the spinoff happened because it turned her into the character she was always meant to be and it wasn’t really fair that the parent show didn’t do it first. And I get that some people don’t think she’s a good character because of her initial lack of development. But the thing is, not everyone needs the same kind of closure.
