A few years ago, I made a recast on the first Pirate of the Caribbean movie with Vivziepop characters, mostly from Hazbin, after I compared Alastor to Jack Sparrow. I also wrote a reenactment of the movie based on the recast.

Now with more episodes of Helluva Boss having come out since then, and especially Hazbin Hotel finally coming out, my interest in making this recast has reignited. Since the more recent content of both shows has explored the characters more and introduced new ones, I’ve made this updated Pirates recast that also includes roles from the second and third movies. And I intend to write a reenactment of the whole trilogy with this recast at some point.

I chose what I thought are currently the best choice for each role. Some are still the same from the original version. I also only stuck to the first three movies as I don’t find the fourth and fifth to be quite as good and I don’t think there are enough characters that can fill all the roles of literally all the movies. And as you can see, some of the female Vivziepop characters are in the roles of male Pirates characters.

-Alastor as Captain Jack Sparrow

I honestly feel that this choice is perfect. Both are eccentric and irreverent tricksters with mysterious backstories and usually act in their own self interests. I also like to believe that Alastor has something of a conscience beneath his madman persona like Jack had proven to have on occasion.

-Vaggie as Will Turner

The sensible and noble main characters that are devoted to the ones they love. Since Will plays the straight man to Jack, Vaggie can do the same with Alastor.

-Charlie as Elizabeth Swann

Both are ambitious with their desires and are devoted to helping the people they grow to care for. Elizabeth with her pirate friends and Charlie with her sinner friends.

-Vox as Captain Hector Barbossa

Both are confident and cunning as villains and also because of their personal rivalries with Jack/Alastor. While it’s highly unlikely that Vox will be reformed in the show, this version of him in this recast will go through Barbossa’s change from actual villain to more of an antihero and ally to the main characters.

-Seviathan von Eldritch as James Norrington

He may not have appeared on the show yet, but I think this guy who’s said to be Charlie’s ex-boyfriend is the right choice for Norrington since he was the ex-fiance of Elizabeth. Also Seviathan has been described as a “big jerk chad, but not exactly evil”, which makes sense as Norrington was a prim and pompous antagonist, but not truly a villain.

-Lucifer as Governor Wetherby Swann

The way Lucifer’s character turned out was a pleasant surprise and it made him all the more fitting for this role. Both have grandiose appearances due to being in high positions of power, but they can also be awkward and deeply care for their daughters and subjects.

-Angel Dust as Joshamee Gibbs

Both can be idle and like to drink. They’re also sensible and show concern when it matters. I’d also like to see something of a friendship between Alastor and Angel similar to Jack and Gibbs.

-Blitzo and Fizzarolli as Pintel and Ragetti

These roles just feel right for these two. While Blitzo and Fizz certainly have a much more dramatic and complex relationship than Pintel and Ragetti, I really think they could work well as a comedy duo.

-Niffty as Marty

The short yet tough members of their respective character groups.

-Husk as Cotton

Just wanted to give Husker a role and this felt right for him.

-Cherri Bomb as Anamaria

Simply one tough female character playing another. While Anamaria only appears in the first movie, I’ll still include Cherri in my whole trilogy of rewrites.

-Carmilla Carmine as Bootstrap Bill Turner

She just feels like the best choice for this role. They both understand loyalty and care deeply about their kids. Also because Carmilla is the closest there is to a parent figure for Vaggie so far.

-Valentino as Davy Jones

The villains that are arguably the most evil in their respective series. Even though Jones has a tragic backstory and Val doesn’t, both are needlessly cruel and hold themselves in high regard. It’s also safe to say that Val would flat out refuse to be reformed similar to how Jones did. It would also be funny for Val to have a beard made of squid tentacles.

-Adam as Lord Cutler Beckett

Villains that are ruthless, unsympathetic, egotistical and hellbent on wiping out those they consider beneath them. Need I say more?

-Rosie as Tia Dalma

This also just felt right. They’re both somewhat shady women, but seem to be honorable and are willing to assist the main characters.

-Moxxie and Millie as Murtogg and Mullroy

Just like with Blitzo and Fizz as Pintel and Ragetti, I just needed a duo to fill the role of the other comic relief pair.
