Description Hii : D Totally forgott about this. I drew it back in september. Initially I wanted to make this a coloured illustration but since I have not a single lineart drawing up here I would say it's defenitely about time^^
If you have a good title idea let me know, I have none xD

Never seen one of your linearts before. Line is an interesting thing- beginning artists usually gravitate to line and contour, but line drawings are really more like maps.  You can't get a really super-realistic effect out of lines alone.  You need value and color to do that.  But lines tell you where everything goes, so you need to learn how to handle them.

Nice work, Juhu, you did a nice job conveying life and motion in this one- especially in the background.  Is this from imagination?  I can't think of any titles right now, sorry, but I would like to ask a question.  What would you recommend as a good way to get started drawing trees and vegetation?  I was a bit scared of trees because they seem so complicated.  I guess the key is to suggest their bulk and mass and give a few appropriate details, but not to think of rendering every twig.  I'll just have to take my sketchbook with me on a walk and do some studies of trees.  Can't know how to do something 'til you do it.

Thanks mate!!^^  I would recommend looking at Walter Everetts work, he does an awesome job on leave simplifications: www.pinterest.com/imlvl2/walte…  gregnewbold.blogspot.de/2011/1…
Those are paintings, but sometimes you can see the lines that are underneath them. What I would also recommend is to draw alot, built up some independence and confidence and don't listen too much to stupid guys on deviantart who seem to be confused about what a drawing and what a painting is ; )

Thanks for the advice, Juhu!!  I agree, Walter Everett was good at simplifying trees and his work is well worth studying (both for that and all its other qualities). And you are totally right on all the other points.  Drawing a lot is the best way to figure out how to draw stuff. XD Building up a core of independence and confidence is really important- and that only comes through practice.  I used to look at nature and think, "Damn, this is just too complicated- how can I understand it all?" but still life drawing is teaching me that I can capture any form accurately with enough practice. ; )

There is a trailhead down the street from my home, so I can go on nature walks in a forest of Pinyon trees any time I feel inclined.  As well as the living Pinyon pines, there are some really cool dead trees, rock formations, and buttes so I doubt I will run out of neat stuff to draw.  I'll take my sketchbook with me sometime and do some nature study as the weather warms into spring.  I'll try not to be abducted by aliens, ha ha. XD

You know, no one has ever really explained the difference between drawing and painting to me.  I figured out from experience that when we draw we make use of lines and shading to capture form and a sense of light and dark, while when painting we use pigments to represent the world through values and color.  Always we are thinking of what light actually does when it interacts with what we see.  Is that about right? (-: Painting is definitely a lot more complex and subtle than just coloring in outlines like we did when we were kids with crayons, ha ha.

The tone is great. I love moody pics. They make me feel.
Doesn't have to be a masterpiece but a simple sketch like this. I love it

Thank you C: I'm glad that it conveys a feeling, that's what I was aiming for^^ But I have alot to learn about how to transport emotions in art, it's quite tricky because it depends so much on gut feelings oO

The phrase was once used to announce new music, tv shows, art, articles, that sort of thing. It was a call for the audience to stop and consider (or think about) something new. By using if for a man watching a bird (and a bird watching a man) it's a bit of a funny joke. They are seriously considering each other in a situation that they would normally barely notice each other
