I love the episode "Tales of Ba Sing Se." So much, in fact, that this is the second picture I've done from the episode, and I have (at least) started the pencils on a few others.
Iroh's tale is amazing. Simply amazing.

I was touched that the episode was dedicated to Mako, Iroh's voice actor. Such a shame he died before Season 3 was filmed. We probably would have seen more of his character had he lived. He was a wonderful actor. Very evocative portrait btw. You captured the moment beautifully.

I agree. Mako was a fantastic actor even before he stepped into the role of Iroh. But, I think if he had a choice on what his last project would be, I'm sure he'd be happy that he was able to portray such a wise and endearing character.
I also agree that we might have seen more of Iroh if Mako had survived to play him... but, even though we didn't have the voice, I think how it did play out was respectful to both the character and the actor. One of my favorite scenes in the series is Zuko asking Iroh for forgiveness in his tent outside of Ba Sing Se, and a big part of that is due the build up in the first two seasons that Mako had a hand in.
