Description
The second figure from my potential surrealist painting featuring Pterodactylus antiquus, this one in walking position with mouth agape to show off all those little teeth and the tooth-sized hooked beak at the very tip of the jaws. The title isn't a misprint... well it is, but not mine. Cuvier originally named this animal Petro-Dactyle but changed it in a future reprint to Ptero-Dactyle, which became Pterodactylus. Petro-Dactylus would mean "stone finger" and it's interesting to think maybe that was intentional and Cuvier merely changed his mind about the name, rather than committed a simple spelling mistake.

Awesome looking pterosaur; I dig the teeth. It looks very "dragon-esque."
