Well, I wouldn't blame art direction.  But, I'd definitely say that the fact that the original Savage Coyote was just one of 30 or so other illustrations for that TRO likely contributed to it not getting my full attention.  Plus it WAS a while ago, I likely sucked a little more back then

Plus since then I've gotten to see many other takes on the machine helping to refine my own idea of it.  Seeing someone slough through the process of making a miniature alone is a great help to seeing the shapes concretely.

So I'd say, in my personal opinion, whatever "improvement" you're seeing to the mech is likely 90% improvement through experience and technique.

30?  Now that must have been trying, not only make that many designs but to make them look different from one another.

Well being able to do that is why you get paid to do it.

Nah he's pretty much right.  I've tried for battletech stuff to have some distinction for PPCs.  I'm not sure when I stuck on the idea of their effect having a more lightning-like effect to it, but once i did, I've pretty much been drawing it that way ever since.

The PL effect here was a bit of an experiment.  Oh well, 3/5 maybe?
