Description
A long-awaited gift-art for started eons ago and finally finished, partly thanks to him. Hope you like it ;>Oh god, I did it...
There have been so many inspirations in this one on the way that I can't even remeber what it was supposed to be at start.
Patterns on the sleeves used from the book Japanese Patterns.

This is gorgeous. Absolutely everything about this piece is amazing. The way her bright hair contrasts so sharply with her dark skin... Incredible.
Her neck piece reminds me of spider silk, beaded with dew ^_^
Also, the few definite lines coming off the bottom of her dress add a really pretty effect to the flow of it. Very elegant.
God I just can't get over how amazing all of this is. I have so many questions, I just don't know where to start! Okay, how'd you color the background? It looks like the Impressionist Brush in Photoshop, but you said you used OC, so that can't be it.
How did you achieve the wisps of light from the lantern?? They're so beautiful and ethereal!! <3
Her hair! Oh my god, her hair! First, the way you defined each and every strand is just... guh, it's so amazing. How... how do you DO that???
And how did you create that luminescence surrounding her hair?

I see some questions here that i could answer, so here we go:
The whole painting was done in OC and that mostly using just one tool (the watercolour brush). As for the wisps of light, or the smokey effect, that's an exception. I used the pen tool here on a seperate layer (seting it a bit transparent). First i took a big brush (some very light colour, but not actually white) with very low opacity- making some strokes that crossed each other a bit (so the some would overlap), later i added some thinner lines with higher opacity (especially on the outlines of the smoke). And i used a large low opacity eraser here and there to making it look all better. And that's it. You could probably use an airbrush for that too (or any of the fancy photoshop brushes) but I'm pleased with this effect here.
The hair was done all with the watercolour tool too (best painting tool i ever encontered)... and to make it shiny/luminous you just need to use the right colours, as a general tip- don't use white for the highlights (or just for the most shiny areas) better effects can be achieved with more saturated hues of the given colour (like cyan here).

Twoja praca jest dopracowana i szczegółowa widać , że nie powstała z dnia na dzień. Cieniowanie twarzy jest bardzo rzeczywiste w samej formie, podejściu. Ale przez to głowa wygląda jakby była "doklejona", reszta postaci już nie jest wykonana z taką dbałością. Widać, że całą uwagę poświęcasz dokładności i dbałości o formę. Ale skutkiem tego jest to, że praca wygląda drętwo. Nie ma w niej "iskry życia". Wszystko z wierzchu jest niby fajne szczegółowe ale dopatrzeć sie można we wszystkich Twoich pracach (i tu także) jedynie "powłoki" postaci jakie rysujesz. Jak wydmuszka piękna na zewnątrz ale pusta w środku...
