Description I respect the way each one has "to help", so let's avoid the religious drama and be straight to the point.

In my opinion, praying for Japan is just useless. And I'm christian. Praying helps and aids people... but no matter how much we all try, we cannot rebuild a house with prayers.

So, stop praying and do something useful. Or do both.

Donate directly to Japan's red cross, send medical supplies, find legitimate charities, donate via text message, donate through itunes, donate on facebook, donate your airline miles, spread the word, add donation links on your websites, etc.

GO JAPAN. My heart is with you.

And for the haters:

James 2:14-17
"What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, β€œGo in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. "

I agree, prayer without actions is useless

this.
I swear ,everyone was praying for japan last year, I didn't say it is a bad thing.
However, when it came to donation, only few of them stood up.

prayer combined with works is what helps a person. that's what james 2:14-17 is about. b/c if you lay around doing nothing to help progress that prayer then nothing will come of it.

LOVE THIS. Don't get me wrong people each have their way of helping. But, I think praying is the least helpful, you can pray but spread the word about donations. Make a fund to help the cause, you can do anything with the internet these days. Heck, even collect toothbrushes and band aids for them. Pray but also help. I'm not a Christian, I am more into Hinduism, and I believe that you should live to help others and yourself. This poster is absolutely genius and brilliant! Great job!

I understand your concept and point of view, and I agree that money is what they need right now, but if someone can't afford to do that, prayer is much more powerful. Don't doubt the power of God; he asks us to pray to him in times of trouble, he can work miracles. And you should understand that prayer isn't useless, it actually helps immensely.

One thing I'd like to pass on as someone living in Christchurch, New Zealand, is that we don't really know where the donated money is going and what it is going to be used for. We appreciate the generosity of strangers so much but I personally appreciate the kind words and prayers of other people a lot more. I know myself and a LOT of other people in Christchurch would love for someone 'official' to explain where the money goes after it is donated to the Red Cross and how it is going to be used. Would be nice if we could all get a small cash handout to help with the daily costs that have arisen since the quake, like transport!!

On the prayer issue, why not pray that God presents you with opportunities to help, or pray that He opens your eyes to the opportunities around you. A little girl about age 6 here in Christchurch baked some muffins and was selling them outside a school to try and raise money for the people of Japan. You CAN do things to help, no matter your age and she's a beautiful example of that.

I know it is so easy to just sit back and let other people deal with the situation when you yourself are not directly affected. I've done it before, but living through a natural disaster has definitely changed my perspective and made me realise that even just the messages of support can really make a difference to someone who has lived through that disaster.

I think people have different meanings for prayer....

but for some people prayer isn't hoping for the best. But I also know for a lot of people its not doing a darn thing and sitting on your behind though as well.

So I would say as far as visual communication, not the best, in terms of design, pretty cool. :d

as pessimistic as the message is, it's exactly what I thought when I first saw the "pray for japan" campaign. Prayer should be followed with action. But more rediculous was the "wear red and white to show your support for japan" facebook event. It was stupid.

I don't mean to make any 'religous' drama, but I do have something to say. I believe that you do not understand what prayer is. Prayer is depending on God, and knowing that no matter how hard you try, your wish will only come true if God wants it to happen. It is simply the disbelief in your ability to do anything without God's help.

BUT. There is a difference between knowing that you can't do anything of your own accord, and not doing anything at all. You must do your utmost best, at the same time knowing that that alone is not enough to get what you want. So it is as you said. Do both.

It's a difficult concept to grasp, and I hope I've helped clarify it a bit. GOD SAVE JAPAN.

When a prayer is honest, God -- no matter your religion -- will listen and the thing about having faith, is believing in miracles. You pray because you expect God to do what you can't with your own hands. You pray for help and if it matters, God will through His misterious ways, MAKE IT HAPPEN. And trust me, cause I've been there, others people prayers have done for me more than their money could.

The way you say it sounds contradicting and it insults fellow Christians, draws in trolls, atheists ect. Praying AND helping can be both effective. As long as you have faith in Jesus, he will hear your prayer no matter what. Praying carelessly or working without truly meaning it in your heart is just as pointless.

Yes, pray chance things, and this is real. But to fix things, you need to be close to Jesus, to see with Jesus eyes and do what he had done for the people, help, heal, sharing all things that the people needs.
