I'm thinking she'll become an "ally", but not their "friend", like the extra ranger that appears in Power Rangers. She's on the team and will come help if they really need it, but she'll still keep her distance and won't truly join them until they fight Luna again or the Carriers of Sin.

Applejack has good reason to think the guy who showed up and threatened her family is working *with* Twilight, and now Celestia is intruding in AJ's *head* in order to emotionally manipulate her into joining Twilight (including playing the "it's your destiny, you have no choice" card), so I'd say its a good chance that AJ will turn her back on them as soon as the current crisis is over ... at least for now.
