Description
Finally finished that other sketchbook! This time I felt the need to draw on a larger surface so I got myself a larger sketchbook. Not sure why, but the smaller pages eventually started to feel limiting, claustrophobic. As if larger pages allow for more...substantial drawings, in a way. It's really weird because I've never felt that way with the 6 by 9.5 sketchbooks before. Now that I look back at it, I realize how much better I am expressing emotion through smaller quicker drawings than I am with larger more dedicated drawings, because the face on this shaded drawing isn't sitting right with me. Time to practice the latter.

That's the face I give my art the day after I draw it.

I love this, all the expressions, even the large one. I love meta humor like this, especially when it's done right. But I hear you on needing larger paper for drawing. I've noticed with my own artwork, that I've started drawing characters larger and larger as the years have gone by. It's gotten to the point where I have to force myself to draw smaller - though not necessarily because of limited room, but in order to get the proportions right.

I remember feeling like that when I switched from 8x10 to 14x17. The first page was two very small sketches, one in the upper left of my character being super excited about all of the space, and at the bottom right was the character being absolutely terrified about all of the space. XD
