Description
Finally, I am painting again! After a major move between countries and a hand injury, I was starting to feel like I was never going to be able to again, so this was just me playing with new techniques to get back into the swing of things.
Also with being self-employed (or unemployed, depending on how you look at it) every minute I am not working feels like another minute wasted, so time is a lot on my mind at the moment!
Mixed media, including biro, watercolour pencils, acrylic ink and acrylic paint, and I kid you not Flora Margarine - I was trying a new blending technique that I came up with at some silly hour in the morning, but it seems to have worked!
A little thanks owed to `zancan for having partly inspired the face - see [link]

Actually the margarine was spread in the thin layr across the whole page and then the paint blended on top, so it stayed wet for a lot longer than it otherwise would, being acrylic. Best not to use too much though - I suspect it will make the paint peel off from the paper!

I love your style, it's unique. Which part did you use the Flora Margarine on? Hehe. I absolutely love trying out different techniques and materials in my paintings and I would quite like to try out the Flora Margarine thing. I've just made a painting with sugar crystals which was so much fun and the effect is pretty.

I love the skeletal hand washing over her face. It's so subtle that at first you think it's a trick of the light.

Been meaning to comment for a while because this piece really touched me... it seems to strike a chord with my state of mind at the moment. I wish I was better at giving interesting critique! I love the blueish tones used in the skin and the way the flowing of the hair seems to mirror the shadow across the face. Beautiful and moving .
