May 1st, after the State's Attorney for Baltimore City's announcement of criminal charges being filed against the 6 Baltimore City police officers in connection with the death of Freddie Gray.

Baltimore City Police Lieutenant reviewing Pennsylvania State Troopers on loan to Maryland. The check cashing business was one of the first places looted during rioting on Monday. . .
It's very rare that I have a song in my head while shooting anything. But I did this time. It was Pink Floyd's Waiting for the Worms.

A chilling photo. It is a shame that looters use peaceful demonstrations as a cover or excuse for stealing or causing damage to businesses. I hope this is a wakeup call to all police departments to get more involved with the communities they are supposed to serve and protect.

Agree with comments about police culture being a/the primary problem on the policing side. (no excuses for rioting and looting though)
While good community police work is what everyone wants. Sadly Police have become generally more militarized and authoritarian minded rather than community minded. With an us (the police) vs them (the "civilians") mentality.
your image is striking to me on a few levels because, in the extreme, i've asked the question if the police and military weren't PAID regularly to do unconstitutional or immoral things to the non-rich civilian would they even be there to do them? I suspect many cops would soon realize the fact that they are "civilians" and part the underclass as well.
