Yes, I love it a lot.Β But under and around the columns it can get a little creepy there when it's quiet at night. . .

What a great shot of the Palace dome. I loved being a kid and walking around there before the sun came up, with all the lovely fog, and that lonely fog horn for the ships in the bay.
Did you know the whole complex was not meant to be permanent?

Yes, I do remember learning in school that the all of the structures of the 1915 Exposition were planned to be varying degrees of "temporary" structures.Β Thank God they saved and rebuilt this one!Β
I get to go to San Francisco every 2 or 3 years for work.Β Many of the times that I've been to the PFA, either scaffolding or other construction activity was going on.Β I hear that they're basically done with all their major work!Β That great news!

No I grew up in East Oakland, (especially during the real bad parts of the city's history). I would go with my step father very early in the morning around 2:00 am. I was about 12 years old when he worked on Chestnut St. I would go and help him to set up for a while, and instead of going back to the car and sleeping, I would wonder all over the place. Then I also had the bad habit of cutting school and taking BART over and walking all over San Francisco. I lover the city back then. I especially loved the Palace of Fine arts at about 5:00 am, with all the lovely fog and the dim lights, it was kind of spooky, yet I felt as safe as could be. I really loved Fisherman's Wharf, Lombard, the Marina and Ghirardelli Square. I loved looking at the homes in the marina.
Traffic! Oh no! It better at night.
I wish I was younger again!Β Yes I think they are basically done with the major work there! I don't think anyoneΒ can walk through it at night like I used to. I sometimes long for the old day!Β Thank you for the wonderful photo, it bring back a happier time! Your Great! Oh and your welcome.Β
