Description I quickly put this together for a contest.

You should pick one of the characters and draw him/her, i picked Banshee. I liked him from the early books, first time i saw him was in the John Burne run, Uncanny X-MEN 111.
What a cool story. After reading it i was hooked to the X-MEN. The art of John Burne was amazing!!!

What i don't like is, that in the movie again the class isn't with the right characters... but i will watch it, the trailers looked nice, and might be nice to watch, after the desaster of the "Last Stand" movie...

I'm going to see the movie on Tuesday, and I can't wait! I just know that Banshee will be my favorite character; for whatever reason, I always thought a sonic scream was one of the coolest powers you could have.

How was the movie?

Yes, the superpower was nice, it was sad when he lost it for a while when he lifted a mountain, that was awesome.

I actually got the chance to see it Monday, instead. I was really good, a bit drawn out, but very good. McAvoy was okay, but Fassbender did his character better justice. To be honest, Kevin Bacon was the best, in his role as Sebastian Shaw. As far as the rest of the team goes, Beast and Mystique stood out drama-wise. Lucas Till was alright, and Zoe Kravitz's performance left a lot to be desired. At the end of the day, for me it was Banshee who stole the spotlight for the best supporting role, and I hope this will be recognized so Caleb Landry Jones gets more work in the future. While he didn't have the Irish accent everyone is complaining about, he was easily one of the most endearing characters, and definitely had the most attention-grabbing abilities in the film, IMO. Whoever mixed the sound for the sonic screams did a great job, it sounded almost aquiline and gave me chills down my spine every time I heard it. Literally made me feel all tingly inside. Although he obviously didn't steal the movie because he doesn't have a lead role, if you were looking forward to First Class just for Banshee, you won't be disappointed.

...That was my poor attempt at giving a movie review. And it's just my opinion.

Wasn't too bad i would say for a review. It was more about the acting instead of the movie itself, wich is a nice change. If a male would have written, it might have been like that:
OOOOh, it was amazing, Magneto lifted the Atom Submarine and all the people watched, and the rockets, and magneto again is saving all and the mystique in the bed and the changing effect. And then explosions and the plane and the Special effects here and there blalbla and so on

I don't know some of the names you wrote, but isn't that bad, the main stuff i think i got.
Kevin Bacon as Shaw... i might say i am a bit dissapointed by that, i have the John Burne drawn Character in front of my inner eye, broadshouldered, muscular and missing hair, and he just looks totally different. But i like Bacon, his voice is so cool, and he is a good actor. My girlfriend said, she doesn't like him, he plays always the bad guys. Which isn't true, but yes, mostly they aren't nice.
In a movie special that they showed here in germany there were interviews and all dubbed in german, but some original audio came throuhg and i heard the Sean actor making a comment. I said at once that it seems that he hasn't got an scottish or irish accent, or maybe he just did it for the comment... but now you wrote that the accent is missing... then i guess that Moira does not have the accent either? Probably she isn't even british or irish and just some US Government researcher?

Thanks for writing back.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Well, of course there was a lot of cool special effects in there, too. I went mostly for Banshee but also because I'm a big fan of the backstories and the abilities of the characters and how they're portrayed. Watching Havok slash statues in half with cosmic energy blasts and Magneto stabbing peoples' hands with knives technically fits in there with the 'giant explosion' category.

I don't really know them either. In all honesty, I was only familiar with James McAvoy, Kevin Bacon, and January Jones, and only their NAMES. The others I had to look up before I knew what shows/movies they were in. Oh yeah, you're talking about the receding pitch-black hairline version, right? Yeah, as usual, there's always (at least) one character that doesn't look like the comic book counterpart, but I'm not gonna whine about it. What's weird is that several months before trailers even started popping up for the film, I was trying to outline a plot for a fanfiction that had Banshee as a key character. I pictured he would look almost like Caleb Landry Jones, and I had never seen that actor before. He certainly does not have the Irish accent. It's some sort of accent I can't recognize. It may be unfair, but if I blame it on anyone I blame it on the dialect coach. Caleb was born and raised in the USA, so to have any sort of accent meant he was trained or advised to do it a certain way. Learning that kind of stuff is generally what actors do best, and if you're learning any accent I don't think Irish would be among the hardest ones. But that's just me. I don't really know.

Moira did not have an accent either. It seems as though most American and British-made films replace any and all accents with British ones. I don't know if that's because they honestly could not find talent that naturally had those accents, or because they don't think it's an important part of the film and it will go over the heads of most of the audience. Even in the recent Thor movie, all of the Asgardians had British accents.

This clip has a few seconds in the beginning with his 'accent': [link]
And this may have been the interview you were talking about: [link]

I think it is nice that they don't put already well known actors in the roles. Makes the movie not that expensive. And what i didn't like about the first 3 movies was, that it hadn't much to do with X-MEN, they should have called it "Wolverine meets some X-MEN and goes about his business".
Do you know the Generation X movie? It is pretty old, [link]
And, OH MY GOD, i just looked who was playing Banshee there, and it is the bigger guy from COLD CASE... And i thought everytime i watched Cold Case "I know that guy from somewhere".
Generation X was an X-MEN Spin off Comic, with Jubilation joining a new Team, lead be Emma Frost and Sean Cassidy.

That is a cool coincidence with the fan fiction of yours.

January Jones? Okay, i know Aprils and June's, July's, even Septembers, but January, that is new to me. Strange the people name their kids like month or seasons (winter, autumn, summer).

The interview was a bit different, i am not sure if it was just cut from that interview you linked, it was in a german special, with lots of scenes. I liked to watch these years ago, but in the last years they always showed the best stuff and oftentimes the ENDS, as they do in the trailers, wich i hate.

The things with the accents, hmm, that is strange.
At least in Enterprise the Scotty has a scottish accent i guess. And the doctor in Stargate Atlantis was scottish. But really tell them apart if scottish or irish, i cannot tell. But i hear if there isn't an accent at all .
It is very odd with american movies or adaptations of shows from other country's. Like Being Human, it is a british show and now you can find Being human UK and Being Human US. Maybe the filmmaker think that the US people aren't that interessted in shows from other countries and have to make them themselfes again, just to say "It is an all new american show".
And maybe the brittains are for the filmmakers so strange or devine that they give the gods that accent.

Oh, and in True Blood are Accents all over the place, sounds funny sometimes. My girlfriend has problems understanding english, and telling english english and american english apart, but when i switch the dvd of True Blood into english and Sookie is rambling in her accent, she just understands nothing.

So, gotta work a little.
Thanks for the talk

I think that's nice, too. Hugh Jackman was already 'established' in film before the X-Men movies, but I don't think he was a 'household name' out of Australia until he starred as Wolverine. IMO, they couldn't have chosen a better Wolverine. Perhaps thats why they put so much unnecessary focus on him in the movies - because they realize how awesome of a job they did and now they're getting cocky, or something. And when it comes to Tony Stark's physical appearance and personality, Robert Downey Jr. is almost perfect to play him. However, that, of course, is my opinion. Not fact.

Yeah, I saw clips from that film! I love how they actually got Sean's accent, but what was kinda weird is that he looked more like his brother (Black Tom Cassidy). But maybe it's just me. Jeremy Ratchford supposedly also voiced Banshee in all of the animated X-Men episodes, but he has denied this in multiple interviews.

Well, almost half of all the action scenes from "First Class" are up on Youtube - as OFFICIAL trailers! Normally the reason for that is because someone has the footage illegally, either by filming it with a camera in theatres or uploading it from sort of free movie site, but all of these previews have been released by 20th Century Fox and Marvel. It almost spoiled a good portion of the movie! But fortunately, it didn't. Its still a lot different seeing those clips on the big screen instead of your laptop. Have you gotten the chance to see it, yet?

From what I know about my country, many Americans seem to put very little effort into trying to understand foreigners. Which, I think, has led producers and directors to believe that we're stupid (and like many humans, a lot of us are), and just resort to using all American actors. OR, British ones - since for whatever reason some Americans still think that British = smart. Not to mention, the British are always talking about how Americans don't speak the "Queen's english", which is quite annoying. Isn't Sookie from Lousiana? I went to New Orleans once (lol, home of Remy LeBeau), and sometimes had trouble understanding Cajun accents. And I know she's not Cajun, I just wanted to say that for some reason.

Sure thing. ^_^

I must say, I am envious! After I see the film I'll probably go crazy with the fanart and fanfiction.
