Finally tutorial came, after I've promised a few month ago. Indeed I intend to pose this tutorial last week for 50,000 pageviews thank you, but I'm very busy so I pose it this week instead. This is my first tutorial, there could be something wrong I have to apologise in this place. Sorry for my broken English also.

Excellent tutorial. I gotta use this for any of my future projects. Mostly because I suck at using a tablet, and also I'm a little more proficient in Illustrator initially.
For a start, a good thing to work on, and improve as well, is the Excalibur airship I have in my gallery. Using this method, I can make a higher-res pic with more detail. And not have to guess every time I color in.

You have an interesting method. I can see how you do your artwork now, however, the title is misleading. In this tutorial you not only do the outlines, but you create the colour shapes along the way.
In looking at your tutorial here and the instructions you've written, it appears that you've somehow created a shape-within-another-shape so you can tweak the anchor points of the inside or outside shape to adjust the outline. Interesting, but doesn't that mean you need to use the Direct Selection tool to select and colour the inside area?
I'll see if I can try this out myself. I was wondering if you can also have a look at the way I do my outlines and colouring [link] Well... colouring at least. For outlines I simply apply quick brush strokes and expand those, and then tweak... I have a separate layer for outlines and colour, and yes, that means I need to edit two areas instead of one when making adjustments in the end, but I find it much quicker to do it this way, and much easier to change my colours.
Likewise, comments much appreciated ^_^

Unfortunately, there seems to be a lot of people getting other people onto vectors through Photoshop. Sorry guys, but if you want to work with vectors, Illustrator was specifically designed for that job.
And don't tell me "But Photoshop CAN do true vectors blah blah blah" Yes it can. You can also type in Photoshop but you sure wouldn't want to use it for word processing would you?

I'm so confused... I guess it's the first time I've used it... can you help me? I can't figure out how to use the path tool...
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
maxwindy In reply to Faeriedreamer2008 [2007-01-22 14:30:51 +0000 UTC]
First, you have to click on pen tool (path tool) to use path. If you just only click it from one point to another point, you'll get a straight line. If you drag another point, you'll get a curve. To make a closed picture, you have to click at started point again.
For beginner, you should try to draw a circle several times to practice.
