Description 3 Marker Challenge: Cloud Blue, True Blue, and Orange in Prismacolor brush markers.
(Not a single green marker was used in this.)

A few weeks ago when I was asking for people to pick three colours, a lot of you guessed right away what it was for: 3 Marker Challenges. They're technically supposed to be random, but I know where all of my markers are in their container so even with my eyes closed I generally know what I'm grabbing. This seemed to work better.

I feel like this is almost unfair for the person who chose this colour selection.
"I like the lavender, the blue, and the orange."
"Perfect! I'll colour the whole thing green!"
"What? That wasn't an option?"
*slams fist on table* "GREEN."

While I was doing these challenges to help use up my Prismacolor markers, it worked a little too well: the Cloud Blue died after I'd coloured one fish and her face, and the True Blue kicked the bucket after getting only her hair and tail. I was less than a quarter of the way through the piece and I was down to one marker. I filled them both with rubbing alcohol (it can revitalize them in a pinch at a lighter shade but risks causing the ink to split into its different colour components) and managed to get the piece out, though I think it's clear I was struggling.

I've never done a full background with the 3MC before. (I've never done ANY kind of background with the 3MC before.) This would have been ambitious with my full colour selection, but trying to tackle it with only three markers, two of them dead...I learned my lesson. I still want to do backgrounds for future ones, but maybe not 'fading into murky water without having an actual colour for the water to work with" levels of ambitious.

So in the end I'm happy with the line art, I'm not thrilled with the colouring, but it was a really fun experiment. Might revisit it at a time when I'm allowed to have more than three markers.

Done with Prismacolor brush markers on Rendr paper (this is actually the back of my Copic swatch sheet; despite the heavy layering on both sides, neither of them bled through. This paper is terrifying, and I'm learning a lot by actually using it instead of just doing tests on it.)

Wow it's beautiful, and even more impressive that you used your blues and orange to make so much green 😂 but it's an inventive way to fulfill the challenge and when great art comes from it who can really fault anything?
