OH MY GOODNESS I HAD FUN WITH THIS.

I received a very loose commission request - basically "You know what I like, this is the room it will be in" - and was set loose upon the world.

I've been itching to draw Rockabilly aesthetic recently, and with the main themes of coffee and motorcycles I immediately had an idea. While I was definitely nervous about drawing the motorcycle (I'm so bad with inanimate objects) I think it worked out okay.

Since last fall I've been putting in a lot of time researching colour schemes and colour harmonies, figuring out how to make a scene look like it actually goes together instead of just being a colour circus. This actually came together on this one. I could cry. The reflector posed an issue, as it's supposed to be orange, but there's no yellows/oranges/only the tiny amount of red in the picture, and if it was orange it would be on blue, its contrast, and stick out like...well, like a reflector. :I So I used the dulled red I used for the robin tattoo and shaded it with the brown that's throughout the piece, and while it still stands out a little it's far better than if it was bright orange.

And! For the first time in my life I drew something that looks good in black and white! (I might even like the Black and White version more. XD) Tone separation is another thing I've been working on (composition is the third main thing), and that really shows in the desaturated version.

The tattoo is a little Easter Egg, as the commissioner has a painting of a robin in the room this is going on. The dress also matches the wall colour.

I still have three commission slots open in this set if anyone's interested! In the meantime, I'm going to see about rearranging my room to make room for another/a bigger desk.

Done with Copics, as always, on 6"x8" Strathmore marker paper.
