"WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOA, WE'RE HALFWAY THERE"This is Slot 6 of 12 for the commissions I accepted at the start of the year. I just might finish by Mermay after all.
(And if not, I will be taking Mermay off and then picking up commissions again in June. Get ready for a full month of Unconventional Mermaids.) This piece had the longest "Ugly Phase" out of any of my recent art projects. I had the sketch, and I wasn't thrilled with it, but knew it would look better coloured. Then I coloured the background and still didn't like it. Then I coloured the couch and still didn't like it. Then I coloured the clothes and REALLY didn't like it. Considered starting over from scratch with a fresh sketch and everything. Coloured the skin. Very happy with it now. Glad I didn't give up. Trust the process, folks.
This was one of the biggest/most complex commission on the list (and the last one with four people), so while I know it's not going to be smooth sailing from here I know I'm past the big hurdles.
Done with Copic and Polychromos on Strathmore marker paper.
ALSO. Sorry for the lack of "smaller art pieces" I'd promised. I've been working on building a marker storage shelf in my spare time, so my normal sketch time has been taken over by that.
