Description
So, you waited long…and now finally, it’s here. For all those who asked for it, my micro book tutorialAfter a DD for “Matryoshka Books” [link] , there was so many questions about how to do it and so many requests for tutorial, that I found it impossible to refuse.
So here it is.
Hope you’ll find it helpful…it’s my first tut ever, so there might be flaws. Please, do ask if anything is unclear or not explained.
This is not the completely same method I used for “Matryoshka Books”…there, I was bound to use completely “classic” methods, as I wanted to challenge myself with it.
Here's a bit altered method I use most of the times. For example, my “Maylar Notebook” is made this way (also, most of the micro books in my gallery, too).
All classic methods are bit harder to do when it comes to micro books…and demand more materials and some more practice, so I felt this one (an bit easier one) would better suit most people, for those who just start binding or just want a little book for themselves, to write or draw on. For the same reason, I used paper for binding. Cheaper for trying and easier to do. Still, if you want to use fabric, use it the same way like paper is used here, there’s no difference in method.
I can say without hesitation, this binding method is equally professional, so when finished, your book will be usable, durable and beautiful as same as if you would do it classic way.
This binding method is closest to “ perfect binding” method (basically, it is “ perfect binding” method, altered here and there and combined with hard covers). For those confused, “ perfect binding” is the method most of your soft cover books are bound by.
This book is 2.5mm x 2mm big, for purposes of this tutorial. You can alter the size to fit your needs; the method will be the same. But I will remind you, this is micro book tutorial…this method fits fine for everything smaller than a regular notebook.
Anyway, that’s about it…as I say, ask about everything unclear, I will answer.
Please pardon possible grammar & spelling mistakes.
Good luck…
P.S. Copyright issues
This tutorial is free to use. You don’t need to link me or anything if using this tutorial. It’s there for free usage.
But this tutorial is not completely free to share. By this I mean: don’t copy or share this tut under someone else’s (yours) name, don’t remove my sig and copyright from it and please, instead of pasting it or submitting it on some other place, better give people link to here. This tutorial is under free copyright, for much that is worth.
But, again, the usage of it is free as possible. If you want, you can note or comment with a link to your micro books, I would love to see ^^ But that’s just a wish, not obligation.
Basically, I have just one big request… please, have fun. It’s no worth doing this things if you don’t
Update:
Lately, I get a lot of questions about selling these books...just to note you people, if you wanna sell one or two to your friends or someone who like them, I really don't mind, so go for it...but, unless you contact me first and we come to some agreement, no mass sales, ok? I have legally protected this idea few years ago (when I was more serious about mass production myself)...and even for some time I'm not interested in mass production, but only unique pieces, the protection still stands, so abusing it is a no-no, unless you wanna face law.
Again, if you wanna sell few, I really, really don't mind and feel free to do it...if you wanna start selling them seriously (like, over ten pieces) online (like Etsy or similar) or offline (in shops, fairs and so on...), just note me, I'm sure we can find some agreement to suit us both
