Description Ever wanted your own stories, art, poems or whatever to be seen in a book?! No problem. Now you can make your own book without any expensive stuff ^β—‘^ Don't worry, it's not as hard as it may look. It's rather easy once you got the hang to it. Just give it a try and you'll be surprised by the result.

I made this a while ago but describing things understandable is pretty hard for my but luckily I have some nice friends ^β—‘^ Thank you so much Ruru (~ruruken ) that you rewrote my rather bad English to this wonderful text. I appreciate it so very much!!!

tutorial, book and photos by me

Sorry for the ultra late reply!

Uhm, I am horrible bad at explaining technical things in English but I try it.
I guess you mean that the glue is coming throuhg the fabric on the other side, right? That actually happened to me a lot. First I use a glue that dries clear (no one that stays white, they're hard to work with) and then I try to use as less glue as possible so that it can't seep through.

I understood you until step seven. It got a little confusing there and I don't understand what it is that you are supposed to do with the "bull" strips. ;-;

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Dimigurumii In reply to snoop-fox [2011-04-18 14:15:11 +0000 UTC]

Well, it's hard to follow this if you just read it. If you read while doing the book, you'll understand (I never understand any tutorial or guide until I do every single step myself).
What don't you understand about the "bull"-thingies? Look at a real book (not a pocket boock, but a real book. Cheap ones may doesn't have it though)Ah, well... here. I marked what the "bulls" will be [link]

snoop-fox In reply to Dimigurumii [2011-04-18 22:46:06 +0000 UTC]

You don't understand, I'm an auditory learner, so it's your words that have to teach me. I don't think you explained things enough, but I will try it out (when I manage the time to) and tell you where I get stuck and why.

I knew what you meant by the bulls, you just didn't explain what to do with them very well.

Dimigurumii In reply to snoop-fox [2011-04-19 14:49:20 +0000 UTC]

Yes, do so and I'll help you. The girl who rewrote it tried it out with my bad English and she didn't get stuck, so you maybe won't have any problems ^^

You don't know how hard it is for me to explain anything in English. Speaking about random things is okay but explaining. And I really don't know what they're called and so on and on the other side I didn't felt the need to explain, what every thing is.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

snoop-fox In reply to Dimigurumii [2011-04-19 23:39:12 +0000 UTC]

Don't worry, I will! I've just been extremely busy.

I do! I translate Spanish Tutorials into English for some users. There are so many words that don't translate between Spanish and English like "Tintaschinas."
I'll make it my personal goal to learn German so I can help you out sometime (I LOVE languages).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Dimigurumii In reply to snoop-fox [2011-04-20 13:41:40 +0000 UTC]

And if you have any problems just ask. I try to help but I can't promise since I already gave my best to explain things in English ^.^;

Really? Wow, that's nice. That's exactly my problem. There are some important words that can't be translated and to circumscribe that as a not native speaker allways ends in a big chaos, haha. May I ask you if you know if "fibre direction" is a common word for you? We understand it if we hear it, no need to explain it. But if I type the English word in google, some very different pictures appear D8
Aww, that's so very nice of you. You really don't have to but if you like languages that much...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

snoop-fox In reply to Dimigurumii [2011-04-20 23:40:17 +0000 UTC]

That is fine!

I've noticed that about the German words. I'm so lost! WΓΆrter are what confuse me the most because it is hard to come up with a solid English equivalent for them. (I had the same problem with Spanish because you are told that por and para mean "for" but they also mean in order to, because, by, and during. You cannot use them interchangeably either, so you have to learn specifically when to use them.)
I know what you mean by fibre (or fiber since I'm from the US) direction is, but that term is most commonly used to describe the direction of muscle fibers. The term we use with paper, fabric, and wood is "the direction of the grain." I have never understood why because grain sounds like sand and rice to me. Tiny particles.
I haven't tried to learn a Germanic Language as of yet. I have only learned a little Spanish, Italian, and Japanese. I think it will be a good experience for me. Perhaps I'll teach German students sometime as well. xD

All combined into one, it doesn't look so long any more. But of course, even with such a simple step-by-step guide, I don't think anyone can make one as beautiful as yours. O.O

Only about 1 1/2 months of school left for me, so after finals, I'll set about another attempt at finding the right materials.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Dimigurumii In reply to Ruru-Kenny [2011-04-18 14:19:22 +0000 UTC]

^.^ haha, I though the same.
Thank you, but I'm sure that there are people who will make it even better. It's not my first one and with every try you'll be better and the result also depends on the materials you use.

Only 1 1/2 months left... 8D that sounds awesome. Good luck then with trying it again ^^

^β—‘^ I'm so glad to hear that! Yes, I did. I'd seen somewhere how pocket books are bound with glue. I so tried it myself with hosehold items and it worked. But I wanted to have a hardcover book since that looks way better. I brood over my idea and of course I had many trials and errors but finally I ended up with a rather simple way of binding a book.

OMG thank you for putting this up!

I've always written stories and have printed them out and wanted to put them in a nice book binding like this instead of putting them through a hole puncher and put them in a folder.

So, thank you again. Definite fave.
