Description Hmm... need to figure out how to make a preview loading bar for ready made swf from After Effects... (The file is 3MB)

I notice the loading on DA is not as smooth as it should have been. Watch on Youtube if it's too slow for you.

On youtube: [link]

Rough ver: [link]

For my animation project. The colors are done in a modest way to save time.

After watching my own animation many times, there are many imperfections, but for the time being, I am happy with what I have so far.

I want to push for Sequence 4-5, but those need to be worked out with much higher attention to detail and there's much more to be corrected. bah.

Still need to go back to my flash and maya projects....

Though 2D animation is tedious when it comes to tweening , cleaning up and coloring.... I still prefer it's process over 3D so far. 3D animation think in the way of computer and architects... not normal artists.

Tools of Trade:
Pencils, animation paper, peg bar,
photoshop, corel painter 9, after effects CS3

and tons of study on books like:

Illusion of Life- Magic of Disney
Timing for Animation

Watching animation with slow 1/4 on DVD time after time
Throw 30'000 dollar into an art school to get you to work your ass off. ;D

the two last scenes is kinda slow, i suggest that you drop them and keep up with the first scene but at the same time keeping the same concept(blocking the sword etc...).

can you tell me the basics of doing animation??>.< i would like to learn some!!
and please ,can you tell me how to do the background lines effect??

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mayshing In reply to soracilipi [2008-09-01 23:00:59 +0000 UTC]

you do the background on separate layers,
not on the same layer as the moving characters.
I believe there will be animation workshop and tutorials on the net if you searched google and youtbue.
Search pencil test, or rough animation.

The full name is Randy Ed. I just shorted it for Ran, and its not spelled Rhan, don't worry. I saw your Rhan, I think they don't look a like, if you take a look in my gallery you will see more of him.

You are determined and devoted to your work.. -^^-

Animation by hand has a magical feel almost. You've done so wonderfully! The first lunge with the weapon was monumentous in my mind... O_< It was very smooth. I adore you for keeping with this!

It's coming along wonderfully in my opinion too. Much better than my poor attempt at animating a cow a few years ago. I hope to be able to see a finished version someday.

oh ya and continuation problems too.. merge 1st scene and 2nd scene together...if the character tats striking ends on the right then next scene he should start on the right

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

palp In reply to ??? [2007-11-26 16:49:27 +0000 UTC]

give it some fast cuts, some extreme poses, faster strike. basically just make the fast actions faster and the anticipating action longer. and it should be good

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mayshing In reply to palp [2007-11-29 04:35:52 +0000 UTC]

I am thinking it needs longer anticipation. As for the speed of the cut, I will check again, it should be pretty fast in its original form, (I aimed for shooting on 1s, but I will double check.) but it's a bit harder online since all loading varies.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

palp In reply to mayshing [2007-11-29 15:18:17 +0000 UTC]

u should check ur frame rate. for exampl, if ur animation is suppose to be 24fr/s then the .swf file you exported should be 24 fr/s. likewise for other frame rates. i dun think it has to do wif load times since we can replay it again once it finishes loading and it should be playing normally without stalling.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mayshing In reply to palp [2007-11-30 02:31:22 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I will double check again when I work on it this weekend. Thanks

faderillaz [2007-11-26 15:47:15 +0000 UTC]

the animation is very good but I think there's something that makes me a little fuzz, I think the cut from 1st scene to second has a direction error.
I think the camera is not supposed to go to that point of view after the first scene, but this is only what I "feel". I dunno if really technically that's correct

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

faderillaz In reply to faderillaz [2007-11-26 15:53:13 +0000 UTC]

ps I saw the penciltest of this and it' deosn't give me the same effect of "error"! So I guess my fuzzness was given only from the change of background! XD

Neolucky [2007-11-25 23:17:10 +0000 UTC]

The initial lunge in the very beginning is very smooth and seemed to have a lot of force behind it, I think the background and angle really aids the movement as well. The attacking character has a lot of detail in the arms, which would be frustrating to keep up with but you did marvelous here.

I'm absolutely floored by your work, every time I see it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mayshing In reply to Neolucky [2007-11-26 00:16:53 +0000 UTC]

Actually, it's not as frustrating to keep track of the arm detail as I expected it would be. It's just another element to keep track like everything else. Quick action is often easier to do in animation (all the cool stuff) than slow, subtle action.
