aaaa... that's even harder XP since it's either a wig or I colour my hair ahaha~ preferably I'd wear a wig. Well i'll try to find a proper wig I can borrow if I will be cosplaying as Lien~

I don't know why, but I feel strangely attracted to Lien XD and i'm a guy~ Maybe because he reminds me of someone special.
I suddenly had the coolest idea, I think I'll cosplay as Lien at the Comic Fiesta(Comicon kind of thing happening in Malaysia) XD I don't know how to design his clothes and hair but i'll make a miracle somehow~ but if all turns out well, I'll look awesome

Wow, you're animating this? I've been reading Edepth online and I'm thinking of buying it when I have money Is the story completed or is it still ongoing?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

the story is still going, probably another year or two before i can actually end it. >.<

Yes i am animating it.

Awesome!! I actually saw the opening animation in Youtube. It's cool. How did you put all those shiny effects there? Don't tell me you animated it frame-by-frame... Or did you?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mayshing In reply to AngelERenoir [2010-04-08 22:50:31 +0000 UTC]

its called After effects, if you want to do animation, u must have that program. It's the photoshop of animation.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AngelERenoir In reply to mayshing [2010-04-08 22:56:49 +0000 UTC]

Ahh... I have that program. But do you animate frame by frame, though? I've never used my After Effects yet...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mayshing In reply to AngelERenoir [2010-04-08 23:11:25 +0000 UTC]

you should try out after effects... heres a good tutorial site: [link]

Its mostly used for film making, but same affects applies.
For animation, i animate in flash in rough, then ink, color in photoshop, and finally bring the psd into AE to touch up.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AngelERenoir In reply to mayshing [2010-04-08 23:47:25 +0000 UTC]

So it IS frame-by-frame? Not flash tween?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mayshing In reply to AngelERenoir [2010-04-09 01:22:38 +0000 UTC]

do you think it look like flash tween???? XD Gee.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AngelERenoir In reply to mayshing [2010-04-09 02:08:28 +0000 UTC]

Well, I don't know. It could have been.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mayshing In reply to AngelERenoir [2010-04-09 02:52:32 +0000 UTC]

i thought that would be obvious.
Flash tweening will give more puppet feel that's very trendy in the current US animation. O_o
My animation has no stock right now so its all frame by frame.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AngelERenoir In reply to mayshing [2010-04-09 03:22:01 +0000 UTC]

Phew.. Glad to know that. I find myself unable to comprehend how a tween would work in an animation. I do have a friend who can work with Tween and make the movement not puppet-like, but... That's a different matter entirely

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mayshing In reply to AngelERenoir [2010-04-09 05:50:41 +0000 UTC]

there's one way, you hand animate the whole thing frame by frame then break it up and puppet them. It saves a lot of time for a large production.

I might be doing some of that for the simpler scenes in the future, people have been using stock animation since waaay back then.

I love seeing turnarounds for animation! Only thing is, 3/4 is always the one with the most information! D: Somehow I like how you stylized (sp) the pants/shoes

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mayshing In reply to MayYeo [2010-03-19 19:26:06 +0000 UTC]

i know, i will update it with that view later. XD I sort of hate how this one turns out anyway, any tips on how to do a relaxed looking turn around? i have such trouble with those. I never drew my characters so rigid until I had to do turn arounds.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MayYeo In reply to mayshing [2010-03-19 22:18:05 +0000 UTC]

Well I think the best way is to look at turn arounds from pros, I got a bunch of Disney turn arounds like Cuzco and Belle, really cool and carefully done. Don't know if you can google that? I've got them all from my college notes. Do tell me and I'll provide you with the ones I have so you can print them and what not I've done a couple of turn arounds myself: [link] [link] [link]

It is important to show the personality of your character, and apply the "feet trick" (which you already did, that is, appearing flat even when perspective talking it's not right xD).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mayshing In reply to MayYeo [2010-03-19 22:55:20 +0000 UTC]

I know mine pretty well personally, i have been drawing them since middle school. But I have trouble getting over the technical side of it, it's like being ruled by perspective, instead of ruling it, that's my biggest problem with turn around sheets.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MayYeo In reply to mayshing [2010-03-19 23:19:08 +0000 UTC]

Ah yes, perspective's a bitch. I didn't mean you didn't know your characters, but draw them in an interesting pose that will fit their personalities

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mayshing In reply to MayYeo [2010-03-20 00:16:14 +0000 UTC]

my issue is... put simply, i am perfectly fine with my character and technique, but emotionally i can't express myself through turn around sheets, thus they annoy the hell out of me. XD You do yours very well though.

i can draw them in interesting pose, but interesting pose doesn't make for a perfectly aligned preference for someone else to use it. :/ I hope you know what i mean?
i want to do something like Cowboybepop's line up, [link]
and i have no problem doing that, but the problem will be on the people who has less drawing skill/or less familiarity to the characters than me working on the project, they are going to do something wrong with it. So i have to restrain to poses that look worse than an sculpture drawing plan. XD

The color selection is a bit weird. It feels like more an illustration then an exact color design for an animation show. >.>

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mayshing In reply to mb-ai [2010-03-16 22:42:08 +0000 UTC]

it's not, its only for people to look at as a basic structural ref, character colors per scene needs to be assigned individually, that's how i do it.

mb-ai In reply to mayshing [2010-03-17 00:40:29 +0000 UTC]

the whole thing is weird, this is why i hate doing model sheet.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mb-ai In reply to mayshing [2010-03-17 00:57:01 +0000 UTC]

it reminds me of a a Beckerman advice. Don't draw to stiff and feel the character ^_^, But then again some people really enjoy breaking up character in simple shapes for animation.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mayshing In reply to mb-ai [2010-03-17 01:50:22 +0000 UTC]

i don't draw stiff until i have to do model sheets, :/ tips on doing natural looking model sheets will be helpful lol

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mb-ai In reply to mayshing [2010-03-17 15:26:14 +0000 UTC]

well rule number one is to draw then not in the straight pose, but the way your character usually stands. hmm let me see if i can find good character sheet links. -If you check out disney character sheets you will see what I mean. Its all in the right posture <3

mayshing In reply to mb-ai [2010-03-17 19:42:02 +0000 UTC]

yeah i have seen some nice sheets, the fact one has to draw them perfectly aligned, proportioned so others can copy them annoys me and makes my work rigid beyond normal, but my problem is avoiding it.
I will try again.

sorry I HAVE a question when u want to develop a character where are u starting to develop this chara I tried so hard but I cant figure something out

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Mistchiff In reply to Naim92 [2010-03-13 13:19:33 +0000 UTC]

good idea is to think of what you want your character to be.

cool, quite, funny, spooky, annoying, or what ever you had in mind.

Now its wise to look at other characters or stereotypes of characters to get the right feel for what your character is supposed to look like. or if you have people near you might be interested in looking at their character traits and pick something distinguishable about them. clothes and demeanor mannerism changes a character drasticley.

then its just to start drawing.

if you follow these steps you can probebly make a character thats pretty solid.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Naim92 In reply to Mistchiff [2010-03-13 13:37:41 +0000 UTC]

does that mean the developing of a chara starts by writing notes and so on and collecting material and background informations?
