Description Don't really know where this one came from. Started as a figure exercise I guess. About 2 hours start to finish.

You seem to bend back and forth between realism and design - instead of integrating them.  Here, for instance, the design elements compete too evenly with the object of representation.  Looking at the rendering of the gauntlets - the lighting used there is the same as the lighting on the rest of the body, even though the angle of the arms would have them catching light differently.  The result is that the black spots attract too much attention to themselves as pure designs, instead of paying it to the underlying masses. 

Just as with light and dark, colors, shapes, and everything else, one can mix 2D and 3D, but one must always clearly dominate.  The minute they're near equal, they compete, and when they compete, flow stagnates, forms distort, and in a myriad other ways composition suffers.
