Well, I've only used the monitor versions. I've used the 21UX and the new 20WSX. They are both great. Never used any handheld versions.

Seem pretty sturdy to me. I press pretty hard when I draw and I haven't made a scratch (or caused any other damage) yet. I've had it for over 2 years.
