Description
I didn't know if I would be posting this to dA, but with my schedule being what it is these days, I figured why not. A couple months back, an issue of the Superman main title was pulled for some controversy or another, and DC instead ran an inventory story by Kurt Busiek and Rick Leonardi. I say "inventory," but really it was an issue that ties heavily into the whole "Infinite Crisis" storyline of which I know little, and has since been rendered moot anyway. The story is basically: Superboy died (he's since gotten better, because "Comics, everybody!") and his dog misses him.I have a current project involving my own dog (A Dudley Lab) and since I was already in dog-sketching mode, decided this would be a good time to draw her as Krypto for my own amusement (since my fiancee has squashed my plans to name any future dogs "Krypto," I have to enjoy it however vicariously). It started as a sketch, grew into an excuse to draw the Cassie version of Wonder Girl, and was just a chance for me to work on different lighting for a change. I worked on this here and there over the course of the past two months and in between other things, and was really just a practice piece for a nerd who likes his dog a lot.
So while this was never really intended for dA display, the "Man of Steel" movie is currently filming about half an hour from where I live. This past weekend I decided to stalk the set and catch a glimpse of the Smallville set (what I did see? LOTS of destruction happening in this one, kids), and now I've got an all-things-Superman buzz going.
Created with PITT Pens, Adobe Photoshop, and a timeframe not exactly "faster than a speeding bullet."

I preferred by far the pre-1986 Krypto, even tho I am a cat person and saw Krypto as a cartoon dog.(thought like a human !).
In fact, DC's post-Crisis continuity is not my cup of tea, and even less are the subsequent reboots.

Really like your art work and not only do you the typical curvy fan boy's dream super babes well, but you caught the expressiveness of a dog's face in Krypto. Β Great attention to detail and thoughtfulness.

Thanks - my dog (whom I modeled Krypto on) has a ridiculously expressive face. She made it easier to capture the right emotion.

Very nice! The lighting, colors and body language of both characters really sell the sad vibe. What's really cool is that it could just as well be a regular woman and a sad dog, and yet there's that extra layer that it's Krypto and Wonder Girl. Love it!

This is ridiculously awesome. The colors are great, love Cassie's expression and Krypto looks so good, I mean he's really well drawn. I love the tones and definition, everything about this just blows my mind.

It is a very evocative piece, that shows a lot of emotion and conveys a sense of melancholy from both characters. the sepia tones add to all of that, and makes the character's bold colors jump out that much more.
Excellent work, really very moving. Color me a fan
