Description
6/15Landscape painted in Photoshop. Took me too long. I need to learn how to be faster. All in all, disregarding the internet time, learning brushes etc. Actual hours spent on this is still around 8-10. Too long.
edit: increased contrast on trees.

Hmm. This one too. I remember this from 3 years ago also, when it was new, but I guess I didn't fave things back then!

I love how you're showing these two enemies seemingly working together... Maybe they're caught in a situation where they have to help one another out?
Is that the SDM in the background? This is so beautiful...!

Thanks, it took me awhile to paint.
That's an interesting way to interpret it, like one of those reality tv shows. Yup that's the SDM in the background.

don't they hate each other? In reality, Mokou would be pushing her off the mountain, not helping her up it!

I've pretty much made a full time job out of trying to find a job. I'm for intents and purposes on my last strike here, and if I can't nail something down in the next 2 or so months, I'm out on the street. I've got some part-time work right now, but I still need solid full-time stuff to make ends meet, and to keep these damn debt collectors off my ass. So pretty much, life doing a number on me.
Most recently though, I've been sick. But other than that, I'm stuck in a dried up well as far as inspiration and motivation for art has been. My mind's been on so much else that I'm not even sure what I'm going to do really.

Oh man, that sounds really shit, is finding work where you are that difficult? I remember you've been struggling with that for awhile now. Didn't you attend an art school or something? There were no useful resources there for helping you get work?
Anyways I'm in the same work-searching boat as well, my situation is nowhere near as dire as yours but I know what you mean, it's a lot of pressure and it cramps motivation to make art. The longer you're out of work the more pressure you feel too, not only do the bills pile on but you feel this pressure like you're somehow falling behind other people career-wise.
I can't really give you advice for work search because I'm pretty noob at that and I am unfamiliar with your environment. So good luck on that and I hope you have a speedy recovery. But as for art I think you should seriously ask yourself what direction you want to take it into. If it's just going to be a hobby then great, do whatever makes you happiest, but if you want to make something more of it then it's probably a good idea to set a goal to accomplish one thing a day even if you have no motivation for it. That is probably what will pay off in the long haul.

Yeah, finding work out here is ridiculous. Despite what our media might say, country-wide unemployment percentage is at or around 41%. I'm not certain if that takes adults whom opt to be stay-home parents etc. into account, but even if it did, the number is still very unsettling.
And I was in art school, yeah. I dropped out a while ago because it wasn't worth the money I was paying. Having to give up an arm, leg and half your soul in debt wasn't worth what I was getting in return. And the student affairs office wasn't worth half a damn, so no dice there.
Sorry to hear you're feeling the pinch too. It's a really bum situation to be in, and it really makes me think back to that video I still have in my journal. In my case at least, I'm being forced to try and become a wage slave in order to survive, and it's left little to no room for personal pursuits. It's pretty fucked.
As for what I want to do with my art, part the reason I decided to drop from college, aside from shooting for a degree that amounts to jack shit out in the real world, was the realization about two years in that, while I enjoyed making art, I didn't want to do it as a career. Not yet. I only stayed with it for as long as I did because I thought it may have been worth a little more exploring. Which it wasn't. Not from that school anyways.
It's funny too, because I really want to open up commissions to make some money. But the irony is that my pursuit of a means to make money has left me tired and lacking in motivation to do anything artistic. I dunno, I'm still trying to sort out what to do. Because two months isn't a lot of time.

41% is pretty insane. For me the unemployment rate is much lower here but the work environment here is more or less trilingual. So I'm not well equipped to handle it. Looking for work has been an uphill battle for me. Art keeps me happy.
What you described is kind of what I expected from art school to be honest. Art schools tend to be very expensive. They're never places for you to attend if your whole goal in life is to try and make a huge positive return on your investment into education. They're usually places kids with rich parents go to attend school because they can afford it and they had a drawing hobby. The way I see it the only way people get anything out of art school is if they're very invested into it and can take full advantage of the training they get there. For those people art school lets them improve extremely quickly. Otherwise it's an expensive waste of time. Art directors hire via portfolio not your degree.
As for commissions, I think you should give it a shot, no guts no glory. Just think of it this way, some money is better than no money. It's not really about what you want to do at this point but what you can do. 2 months is as you say, not a very long time so I think every bit of money helps to buy you that much longer to sort your issues out.
