I think it's the bulldog build and the row of spines on its back.
But I still think it's cute.
Then again, I think baby boa constrictors are cute. "They're like worms with really big heads!"

hm, you got a point there. but then I think he's just soooooooooo cute. I would want one as a pet .
I just redid the design a bit and now it seems to work better. but still it's a long way to the finished thing.
yes, baby boas are nice too. soooooo sweet.

And the adults are so cuddly. ^_^ Though you have to be really careful about letting them hug you.
Monster bulldog as pet. I want one, too!

Me like. Of course, as a kid I imagined myself having a pet velociraptor (the T-rex idea was nixed do to size).

Definitely getting some heavy-duty nail clippers.
That's something I should add to the petting zoo/adoption agency/wildlife rescue service I want to start. A raptor house. Eagles, falcons, all those things with big claws and deadly curved beaks.

i can imagine it will be nice having that service around. so whenever someone finds a cute animal with big claws and deadly curved beaks he will be delighted to know that's it's being looked after. hmmmmmm, cute animal. awwwww, so cute. and look it just squeezed it's claw around my finger. awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. can we bring that to the wildlife service kids? noooooooo, dad, let's keep it, it's sooooo cute...
but then, don't they all deserve a home.

Oh, yes. I have often thought that allowing people to keep creatures as pets would solve the extinction crisis.
Just think how many people would love to have a cuddly koala, or a komodo dragon watchdog?

i guess the number will go down the more people have those pets. like always, it's only great as long as your neighbour doesn't have it.
maybe they should also come with some paint so you can make your own unique looking raptor. just like barbie... oh yesssss, let your imagination roam!!!!

dunno. maybe a raptor-picnic-dish-thingie would be nice. so he can pretend to be civilised and have a nice dinner with some of his human friends and then eat them. so it's something to bring young girls and boys together, because both get to play their favourite games. one side gets barbie and picnic, the other side does the slaughter and then in the end action man will save them all.
ok, I guess now it's really my strange imagination going somewhere far-out and, well, ok, errrrrrrrr.. dunno... strange idea I guess...

Not so strange. You should've seen my littlest sister trying to play Barbie with my baby brother. She usually ended up abandoning the effort complaining that he'd turned playing 'house' into playing 'war.'
Maybe it's time the toy manufacturers took advantage of children's natural tendencies?

The Hobbit was originally intended for his children. I don't even know if he meant it to get published.
Kids are great inspiration. I guess because the world is still rather new to them. ^_^

haven't read it completely. I started it a long time ago, but I never really was into Tolkiens books and fantasy in general. I'm more the science fiction guy and well I have to admit, I like childrens books in foreign languages, such a nice way to learn other languages. It also gives you a lot of information about the country you are in.

I can see that. I grew up with both fantasy and sci-fi, so I'm really into both.
I've heard that a lot of the English language students at the Concordia language camps up here like to sing Old MacDonald. (Or was that Row, Row, Row Your Boat?)

hehe yes, at first it must sound silly to a native speaker, but then I have a friend who is American and he is living in germany for a long time, so whenever he speaks german it's german with english grammar. so, in order to learn the language, it's best to start really simple.
I think that's why whenever you go to a language course, the first thing you learn is "hi my name is..." and "I feel good. How are you?"

irish-brigid In reply to McStout [2007-06-24 21:47:14 +0000 UTC]
German with English grammar should work fairly well, since the languages are related.
I think another good phrase to learn is "Where's the bathroom?" If I ever go glob-trotting outside English speaking areas I'm going to memorize that phrase in every language of every country I visit. (That, and "Do you speak English?")

they are related, yes. But it's funny how some english speaking people pronounce german and vice versa. Think of Schwarzenegger. He has such a hilarious accent that I really appreciate it that he is dubbed by another voice actor in german.

I can never remember the names of the characters he plays. That wouldn't happen to be Total Recall, would it? The name would definitely fit the story.
Seriously cheesy movie in spots (especially the part where he and the leading lady get sucked into the Martian atmosphere) but it was cool.

the story is quiet good. it was based on a book by Philip K. Dick (of Bladerunner fame). but the movie I refered to was Commando. Have never seen it, just read the protagonists' name somewhere and it sounded quiet stupid. like Stallone in that movie the Citycobra where his name is Cobretti

I think that's why Schwarzenegger tried getting into more family-friendly movies, like Jingle-Bells. (That was a really odd movie.) And of course now he's taking a break from movies entirely by going into politics.
Which is possibly more dangerous than any of the crazy situations his characters ever wound up in. 9.9
