Description
Numix-Circle is the newest Numix icon theme and it uses circle shaped applications icons.
This is version 14 of it and it comes with about 2150 application icons covered (over 800 more than the previous version) and the biggest change in it is that the baseplate background shape and some of the icons symbols have been completely redone so it feels like a whole new theme. It is a huge improvement over the previous version.
It has custom:
- Folders icons
- System Settings icons
- Indicator icons
- Symbolic icons
- and more
These non application icons are part of the basic NumixΒ icon theme, which you can download or purchase from here .
It is GPL licensed and the "code" is hosted at GitHub .
If you wish to install it under Ubuntu (or derivates) execute the following commands in terminal:
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:numix/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get installΒ numix-icon-theme-circle
If you wish to support the project please buy the icon theme for every dollar counts.
Other Numix related artwork can be found here .
Don't forget to circle our Google + page , become a member of our Google+ community and visit our official webpage .
Icon requests and bug reposts should be filled in Launchpad as bug reports.
NOTE: Please check our website for instructions for installing under Fedora/RedHat and openSuSE.
P.S. If you want to request in application icon do it the THIS WAY .

Thank you very much, this icon theme is great! I'm using it in Xubuntu 14.04 and it's perfect except for the fact it has a problem with icon cache. The system tells me to create an icon cache through the sudo gtk-update-icon-cache /usr/share/icons/Numix-Circle command but i get this message:"gtk-update-icon-cache: The generated cache was invalid."
Any suggestion ?

Also, the dash icon can be manually replaced, so, could you give us the icon you were planning to use for it? that'dbegreat.

I'm not against paying, but the Numix Site needs to make it clear these icons are not FREE.

They are.
You can opt to get them from repositories (RPM, PPA and Arch) or GitHub or to pay for them from here.
It is written in the description.

Hi, thanks a lot for Numix Circle Icons , but I have a problem.
After one of updates, rounded squares in background of icons from Unity launcher disappeared. Is it a bug or a feature? xD
It's look quite nicely, but now unity dash icon, which is square and hasn't any border doesn't fit to others icons and this looks bad.
I attached pictures before and after update, where you can see what I mean.
Before:Β i.imgur.com/YxoM0Y8.png
After:Β i.imgur.com/ta3GZ4e.png
Second thing is that, some files have default icons instead of they normal icons, like pdf documents and image files (instead of they thumbnails), but I don't know is this problem with Ubuntu or icons. In Unity dash everythink works fine, only on desktop and in file manager this happen.
Thanks in advance for your help

Yes, that's by design (the lack of silly boxes). We would have changed the Dash icon too, but it is hardcoded. :/

Is it possible to request and icon? I'm currently using the circle theme and I have one app that still has the old icon. It's called Viber. I've tried changing the icon myself with no luck. Thanks.Β

Those icons will look better without borders like "Control Center Icons" section.
I like how flat/plane they are.

me4oslav In reply to Jakudzafan [2014-05-02 17:26:49 +0000 UTC]
Subjective. We like the bevel. And the Control Centre icons are not flat, they have subtle shadow, which makes them more 3d looking than the other ones, which have no shadow.

Hi, I am currently using Fedora 20 (gnome 3.12) as my main desktop. I recently re-installed fedora and try reinstalling Numix-Circle, or any Numix theme for that matter, and is not working. It seems the mirror is down. I used Fedy as suggested in the official website the installation process starts but wit comes back as an error.Β
Is there any other way to install the icons without having to use the repos. My current shell is "Gaia" which looks great with "Numix-Circle."

I spoke with the packaging guys and it seems the issue isn't really on our side. If it still persists we can provide you with alternate way of using the theme.

When I enter sudo apt-get installΒ numix-icon-theme-circle,
my computer tells me I already own the latest version, and it is also written that there are 0 up-to-date, 0 new istalled, 0 to remove, and 10 not updated.
