I like a lot of the ides going on here, but I've always thought the SCAR 5.56 weapons were a little too hearty for the given caliber.
Now the 7mm NATO/.308 versions are pretty much great.
Sorry, just had some random thoughts.

Yeah, it's true. The 5,56 is too hearty. I considering the 6,5 Grendel / 6,8 SPC potential too.
I like the real world SCAR-H as the basic weapon platform, But with "multi-caliber conversion kit" is a great concept really. ( US SOCOM has been do it with MK.17 SCAR-H version )
It can be adapted into "small" caliber like : 5,56x45mm, .300Blackout, 6,5 Grendel ( personally I like the Grendel concept ), 6,8 SPC, or similar lenght as M16 STANAG Magazine. ( There also lower receiver module dedicated for common AK-magazine and caliber like 7,62x39mm / 5,45x39mm )
Or conversion kit for SCAR-H "wildcat-caliber .308 based / similar lenght / shaped" like : 7mm-08 Remington, .243 Winchester, or recently popular 6,5 Creedmoor ( Especially for DMR configuration )
But of course, I like the "next-generation caliber" concept in 6-7 mm cal, and has more potent than 5,56x45mm but not '"too powerful" like .308 / 7,62x51mm NATO
