Description
This is a quick pencil sketch of BloodRayne that I did a while back that I got permission to post (more pinup pencils coming soon).It took me about 30-40 minutes plus an hour and a half of studying her costume
I think I got her costume right... I used my pages from Plague of Dreams #2 and my cover from Red Blood Run #1 to try to get it down since I've never drawn her before. So she's the comic book BloodRayne, not the video game one (not that I know what she looks like in the game -- never played it).And I didn't slack off on her legs
I literally ran out of paper and on the original, her blade tip is touching the top of the page too.Materials:
- 9x12 Strathmore 300 smooth bristol
- non photo blue Prismacolor coloured pencil
- 2mm lead holder in HB
- Photoshop (to get rid of some grey and darken)

wow nice! I love drawing women also. I can't draw anything else! lol How do you get your drawings on to the page with out looking dark? do you use a scanner? I have issues lol still kinda new

I sketch the body and main details with a Prismacolor non-photo blue pencil, which you can buy at Michael's or Blick's (it's in with the coloured pencils). If it's too darkly drawn I lightly erase it soe that you can't see it unless you're pretty close. Then I have a Staedtler 2mm drafting pencil (which is what most of us use to pencil comic book pages) and draw everything clean with it.
When the drawing is done I scan it in at 300 dpi minimum and save it as a TIFF or TIF file to get the highest quality digital file of it

wow, this one turned out great, looks good as pencils..inks brought out the detail and then the colors just made it pop! good job to all included!

I really like this one and for some reason I like the simple, hard lines of the pencils way better than the coloured ones of the finished one. I don't know why, I just seem to like sketches more. For one I really like the shiny-ness of her pants and her costume and the folds at the joints. I never can get those parts right so I always like to find people who can and see how they handle it. You did a good job.

I guess you could say that they make it feel more natural, definitely. I think a sketch that can be simply awesome without the need for fancy shading, inks, and colouring is best. I like it that way, and it also makes me feel like I'm looking at something the artist crafted with his or her own hands, right then and right there, and I respect that.
