Description
Spiders are nature's perfect predators, right? They create intricate traps to catch their prey, while chilling in relative safety, right? Well, not exactly. Turns out, they have lot to worry about. Especially the more freely roaming spiders, that don't have ready access to immediate cover. And that's where spider wasps come in. Best I can tell, this is Ceropales maculata, unfortunately I didn't get good look at its spots, it was too busy climbing up this t-shaped metal rod in our garden, that we use to beat carpets on. This picture was taken when it was on the top of the rod.
This thing was surprisingly agile and climbed that smooth metallic surface with incredible grace, especially if you consider it was also carrying a spider of the same size as itself.
