Description
I was looking for some more exotic species to feature in my beetle drawings. And so I stumbled upon Darwinilus sedarisi, which is named after Charles Darwin (obviously) and has the most peculiar history, because despite being collected by Darwin himself in Argentina, this species has not been officially described until 2014. And what's even more remarkable, there is only one other known specimen to have been collected (exact date unknown, but there is evidence, that it must've happened some time before 1935). So we are looking either at an incredibly elusive species, or one that might have been extinct for nearly 100 years.
I'm not 100% satisfied with the anatomy and the colours. The only reference material available is the specimen collected by Darwin, which while being in fantastic shape considering its age, it's noticeably discoloured and contorted. Also the antennae should be more saw-like. So, consider this more of a reconstruction of what it might look like.
