Description

Of all the hornets I have met over the years, this has to be the calmest one yet. It was just sitting idly, which is uncharacteristic for the species (Vespa crabro), since every other specimen was flying wildly. And I was even able to nudge it slightly into a better pose without it being bothered. There's something to be said about poking the hornet's nest, but hornets are actually quite gentle if you treat them with decency and not try to swat them instantly. That being said, they are force to be reckoned with, I distinctly remember seeing one decapitating a wasp in something like 15 seconds or so (could have been a bit longer, it's been many years since I've seen that).
