I still play Quake 1 to this day. I admit, the only good thing about Quake 4 was the soundtrack. Everything else is a case of 'been there, done that'.

I like only the first two. I haven't played Quake 3, so I cannot judge that, but Quake 4 is simply as boring, mediocre, cookie-cuttered FPS as humanly possible.

Oh god I know what you mean about Quake 4, I had really high hopes for it aswell. But I wouldn't worry about quake 3, although it's really good, there isn't much of a story it's more of a round fighting game.

You got me wrong- I didn't have high hopes for that game, it was exactly what I expected. Most of ID's games are very similar, take for example Quake, all it is, is essentially Doom with better graphics.
As far as Quake 3 is concerned, I've heard it's ID's response to Unreal tournament, a game franchise I never cared for, so I'm not gonna worry about that.

I miss games where you just fought huge swarms of varied enemies, thank god for Serious Sam 3 ^^
