EDIT: apparently when they redesigned the Glisenti for 9mm, they did not reinforce the frame, which would explain why it was so fragile.
I'm back with more sidearms of The Great War. This time around we have pistols, that in a way are polar opposites. What do I mean by that? You'll see.
The 1911 doesn't need an introduction, it's one of the most succesful pistols ever made. The fact, that it's still popular after 100 years, speaks volumes of its quality.
And then you get the Glisenti 1910, which is a total piece of junk. Don't let the Lugeresque appearance fool you. There's not a lot of info about them online, but from what I found there are several big flaws with the gun. Firstly, it was designed for 7.65mm cartridge, which was considered underpowered by the italian military. So, it was redesigned to use proprietary 9mm cartridge, with sligtly lighter powder charge. It must've done well in testing, otherwise it wouldn't have been adopted. And then the problems started showing up. The gun was a bit fragile, with some parts having tendency to bend. However, what I wasn't able to determine, if these structural issues happened with the proper Glisenti 9mm ammo or as a result of some idiot loading the gun with regular 9mm. Another problem was the screw under the muzzle. What it's used for? Why it's used for disassembly. Loosen the screw (given its position, this can happen by accident) and the gun falls apart.
I'm not a gun expert, so maybe some of those things I've written are inaccurate. Feel free to correct me, if you have more info than I do.
Anyway, here's link to my previous piece, which has another cool guns from ww1- www.deviantart.com/mechanicalf…

Say what you will about Mormons, they knew how to make an amazing handgun. The fact that the only major upgrade to the damn thing in 100 years were safety selectors and double stacked magazines speaks volumes of the quality.

That's really impressive. Also, the AF2011 looks amazing. Impractical, but amazing nonetheless. And I had no idea Browning was a Mormon.
