I've seen chibis of this quality selling for more the $250 usd , so yea...
Its a good price to me.
And lets not forget the artist can price the character for how much time they've spent on it or how much they think the character is worth.
And if those persons ,you speak of, are selling the babies for soo low, then they clearly have no worth to them.

But no offense taken.

meh,  to all those their own i guess.
If you researched, character design is a serious profession and professionals dont sell their characters for any less than $100 and some don't go below $300.
But i understand where you are coming from, and not all stuff like this has to be very expensive.
Most of my adopts are affordable as well, but for something like this, I'd charge the same price.
Im just saying the artists sometimes dont know what their characters are worth. But meh, it's their work and they can sell it for whatever price they want.

Im not bidding because, regardless of how awesome she is, its not my type of character and i like males more. I don't just go around buying every character i see. There has to be a reason why i would want the character.

Meh to all those their own XD
Like i said they can price their stuff for whatever they wanted.

And question, when you see these people at conventions, do they have multiple prints of the stuff you would buy? Or one print of each? Pricing also depends on quantity. Something that's one-of -a-kind will obviously sell for way more than something that has multiple duplicates.

I price my work to that ethic as well. Commissions or individual work i do for people will most definitely sell for more than multiple prints of work i sell at conventions.
But anyway, why is this even important. Just made a point.
anyway bye.

OK. seems like there was some serious discussion going on in here....

I will say just one thing. I'm selling design of character. And art. If you think that 20$ is a lot then... it's ok. But think about it that I worked on t for 4hours. And it was a work! Not only a pleasure. And I think that 5$ per hour isn't this much :> And to make it clear... I will sell this art only once. I won't get any more money....

About Wen-M... he sells posters... Do you think that he sells one copy of each art? I don't really think so.... He probably sold a lot of those posters. Let say 100!('though I sure that he sold more). Soooo 100 for 10$ each gives us 1000$ do you still think that it's cheap? I mean... you do get poster with an amazing art. Yes. But so does others. The art you got isn't only yours.

And if I remember correctly back in 2010 he was taking commissions, and they wasn't cheap.  But is it something bad? No, it's not....

Hence why they were soo cheap smh.
If you commissioned them a single picture, im sure they would sell for way more than $10-15 dude. XD

And $50 is the typical price for an artbook XD, not a single piece of work.

lol 'kid' , sure... Ill just shake my head to that. It's the internet after all.

Meg-Sowka In reply to Tammi-Adopts [2014-06-17 20:45:48 +0000 UTC]

I think that this person doesn't see a difference between commissions[1 art for 1 person] and prints[1 art for many] >:
I just found this on jiuge site:

"OK , I finally decide to open up commissions --- for book covers or character designs. I charge by hour--- hour rate would be $20 and after 20 hour, rate will drop to $15.
I know a lots of people like my details, but details took time. Normal head shot took less than 10 hour, half body shot took around 15, full body shot would be about 20 hours and add background --depend on the details you want -- would be about another 2--20 hours ^^"

Well...she's amazing so 300$ for halfbody is reasonable price... even though it's a lot for me D:

It seems so. Plus they have no idea about how pricing artwork goes.
ikr. They even said they got a commission from them for $10. Which, when i checked out the person's profile and saw the quality of their work, is f%*# ridiculous for someone they say is a professional. there is no way in hell that a person with THAT amount of skill would have done a commission for a price as pathetic as that.

ikr, some people would bash art for that price saying its expensive, but the artist spent many hours and sometimes days doing one piece and not to mention the years they took practicing to even reach that level. Alot of people dont understand, smh.

AnnaKlava In reply to Tammi-Adopts [2014-06-22 07:37:34 +0000 UTC]

I agree. I'm sorry there are so many people who complain about prices on art. They don't understand the time and value of the art. So many people here are used to adopts and commissions of higher quality under $5 or 80 points. It's so common, no wonder people complain that 20-25 is expensive for art when that's actually quite normal and on the cheap side!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tammi-Adopts In reply to AnnaKlava [2014-06-22 07:53:19 +0000 UTC]

true.
Plus some people dont know the value of their own work and sell it at next-to-nothing just to please a certain amount of people who want everything cheap.
Then that causes problems for people who actually know how to price their work, cause the cheap-people complain saying they can get cheap work elsewhere and they think its ok to devalue artists work like that.
Its soo sad... and frustrating.. smh

nah DA tends to severely undervalue art as a whole; $20+ is perfectly reasonable(even low) for art this quality and for how long I imagine you spent drawing/designing it!
(and it's beautiful, by the way. Good luck selling her •v• )
