Now we're getting interesting. For those MLP fans, You notice how not all the griffons are part lion and part eagle. The show actually decided to be a little more creative and took other birds and big cats. And for whatever reason, I thought combining a hyacinth macaw and a black panther would work pretty well and be an interesting combo.

I got a backstory for him as well. At a Manehattan orphanage a baby griffon was found at the front steps by the kindhearted earth pony who ran the place, who took him in. There was a note on the basket he was with the name Gerald on it. Clearly that was his name and that's what stuck. He was put up for adoption like all the other little ponies. Sadly however, because he was a griffon, ponies were didn't want him because little was known about griffons and what little was known is that they were prone to being mean spirited and selfish. That and they get big and have talons and claws. So they were either scared of what they could possibly deal with in the future or just didn't want to deal with it. Sadly that went the same for his fellow orphans. They were scared of him. I didn't help that as this went on he grew to have angry outbursts. Thankfully the very earth pony who found him was there to comfort him. She was the only one who actually cared about him and even embraces him without fear. And that's because she saw a sweet griffon who just needed love like everyone else. She knew better than to form a close bond with any of the orphans but Gerald was a special case because no one else would give him a chance. They would talk, play, spend some time together, and he would even help her out with a few things because being an earth pony it's sometimes hard to reach certain places and hold things and with wings and talons he can easily help. Although one day when he was a teen and it was clear that he wouldn't get adopted he decided he wanted to leave to get a private place somewhere. She insisted that he stay with her until he's ready to get this place of his own. He accepted and stayed with her for a little while. But he didn't want to impose for long he worked to move to a quaint town called Ponyville so he can work to his private home at his own pace.

Gerald is a bit rough around the edges. He's prone to anger, pretty snarky, a bit jaded ans cynical, has a deep desire of being rich and may come off as kind of cold. But he's really a nice griffon and he's not afraid to show it. You just gotta give him a reason to show that side of him. Just be nice to him and he'll be nice right back to you. He can be a real sweet guy if you give him a chance. In short, he's a louse with a heart of gold, as cliche as it sounds. X)

Jeez, that was a bit long winded. To be fair though, I've been developing this character since 2015. Hell, in the very beginning he wasn't a griffon. He was just a pegasus. But I think I've got something here now

EDIT: I changed the outline on his panther body because when my girlfriend colored it that way I thought it looked better then the blue one. Also it's easier to see the outline on him this way.
