Here's a little something I did to represent a decision I made a while back. I thought it's be nice to use Shauku here to show how leaving the fandom made me feel. Conflicted. On the one hand, as of all fandoms and communities, it's big, crazy and out of control. On the other hand, it helped so many people. Including me. But at the same time it was driving me up the wall for a long time and I was just not having fun anymore. That's the main reason I left, it was becoming unpleasant. Believe it or not, leaving it was hard (and conveying the mixed emotions in Shauku's expression was just as hard) but I think this part of the song Friends Never Say Goodbye by Elton John says it best:What is done has been done for the best
Though the mist in my eyes might suggest
Just a little confusion about what I'll lose
But if I started over I know I would choose
The same joy the same sadness each step of the wayJoining Shauku are three friends I made here on DA. & . They don't get involved much (if at all) in the fandom and/or left it for very similar reasons (and since all of us are fans of Starlight, being involved in the fandom was super annoying at best, but I'm not getting into that again). Well except for majkashinoda (the earth pony on the back left) though she left the fandom yet still watches the show, she's now involved in the Linkin Park fandom. And from what I've seen it's a clear "out of the frying pan and into the fire" situation with her. My suggestion to her would be to leave that fandom as well and not join any other.
In short, this was just an excuse to practice on more complex expressions, feature some friends in art, and do a dramatic sunset lighting.

I can understand as I felt the same after breaking off a three year long relationship, while it was hard at first it got better over time. So I know you and your friends will bounce back in no time.
For me I found solace in the My Hero Academia fandom after leaving Game of Thrones.

Well I never really got involved in fandoms outside of forum sites, as
they are home to the more...rational parts of it.

The pic looks beautifully EPIC. The poses and expressions of the characters are perfect, especially Shauku's. I love the atmosphere of it, I mean, the way you did it.
I can say I definitely didn't suffer in MLP fandom by far as much as in LP fandom, but I just can't leave LP fandom since I have a personal attachment to my idol, not just a love for him as an artist. It's not possible to not be involved in fandom and follow and trying to interact with him. Plus, I desperately need to find a bud in fandom to talk to about our common interest. However, it seems impossible.
As for MLP fandom, I agree with you... Nothing to add...

And I had a feeling that your time in the LP fandom is somehow worse than in MLP. Like I said in the description, out of the frying pan and into the fire. But why is it not possible to not be involved in the fandom and follow and trying to interact with your idol? Surely there's a way. Just like how there's a way to do what I want to do despite not being in the mlp fandom

I can't leave LP fandom because:
1st: Like I mentioned, I need someone to talk to about it and share interest. If I won't be in the fandom, I'll never find anyone. Being alone in a fandom destroys me.
2nd: I already got somewhat "closer" with some fans (we follow each other and sometimes talk, they're nice to me and I love some of their posts, so it's hard for me to unfollow them), but unfortunately, they are some of the most involved in treating my idol the way I despise despite it's "their" idol too and despite they know how I feel about it. They simply believe he loves it and can't see it as wrong and try to convince me to see it in positive way, which I can't.
3rd: How can I interact with a celebrity and not seeing the fans when he only interacts with fans too?
4th: The fandom isn't the only thing that's the problem. I already mentioned several times, that my biggest problem are my idol's close ones (including his bandmates and wife) who treat him the same way the fandom does. There's no one who doesn't. I don't really want to unfollow the band members. I can't simply avoid everyone. If fans found out I follow only one of the band and understood I truly care for him only, they would hate and slandering me forever. So far they believe I'm a huge LP fan who loves them all, when in a fact, I'm only Mike Shinoda fan now thanks to how he's treated (I have only a small bond to the rest of band). I'm literally the only one who's bothered by their behavior because people refuse to see it as a bad thing when he himself allows them to do it (and they even see him as the one constantly acting that way, which I couldn't see yet and it makes me feel like we're fans of a different person). I will always stand by my opinion that he deserves way better than that, but is too blind, tolerant, loving and selfless to see it and underestimates himself (which contributes to the reasons I love him so much).
No one else's having problem with LP fandom just me. They're considered the "best fans in the world". My situation is impossible to solve, there's always some cons I can't accept.

Well there's cons to everything, it's just a matter of which ones effect you the least. I know there's no easy answer, even I felt the same way with the MLP fandom. Trust me, there's a third option you're just not thinking of. I'm sure you'll figure would something that will make you happy

Yes. I'd argue that all fandoms are. Which is why I'm not joining in any more fandoms. Especially considering that apparently the brony fandom is the nicest fandom out there yet I was STILL driven crazy in spite of that. If that's as good as it will get, then I think any other community will be a severe downgrade.

Hell if I know. I may be done with the fandom but I still greatly watch and enjoy the show. Hence why I'm still here. That and I'm an artist, I don't have it in me to just leave DA and stop making art. That's one of the reasons why I took as long as a break as I did, I really needed to think about what to do
