Description
This mockup was made to accompany an appropriate arrangement I made of the music that plays in this area, that being Strange Slavic Cartoon. It is still coming soon as of now.
In the meantime, you can download the game this is based off of here: leathericecream.itch.io/at-lea…
A modification of my previous Mega Drive mockup, but this time we're on the underdog (outside of Japan) of the 16-bit console wars, the PC Engine/TurboGrafx(-16).
The PC Engine can display 482 colors on-screen at once from several 16 color palettes; almost the entire 512 color palette that the system supports,
meaning the graphics are less frequently reliant on dithering than on SEGA's Mega Drive.
(The Appartament is now more accurately colored as a result, and Klempodrome now has a different skin-tone than Čeda, like in the original game)
However, the PC Engine only supports one background layer, unlike the Mega Drive and its two (maybe three?) background layers,
and especially the Super Famicom and its variable background layers from one all the way up to four.
As a result, the background here had to be vastly simplified compared to its Mega Drive, and soon Super Famicom counterparts.
Also, although the PC Engine can technically accomplish wider (and slightly taller) screen resolutions, most games were designed for 256 by 240 pixels,
the same as on the un-super Famicom.
And, Čeda is rockin' that Axe power-up; I just wanted to get its appearance in this hypothetical suite of 16-bit console versions out of the way.
It's also the first time I've done a power-up for these mockups.
(BTW, the Mega Drive version would have the purple of the Axe form affect all orange shades that would be used due to limited color palettes,
similar to how various things in the Sonic games don the current colors of the player character; this also applies to the CS:GO knife and other powerups)
