Description "Egg", made in Blender 2.61 (old internal rendered) over my free time today. I originally started off just trying to make a believable egg, with a stamp and all, but ended up building a whole scene around it.

I finally learnt how to use depth of field on the node editor (you can see the slight blurring of the background, ~F10). I would like any feedback on whether I overdid/underdid/got it right as I know it is very easy to overkill with it.

No editing involved for once. Would it be worth doing it in cycles at all? Meh.

Oh how silly of me! I forgot to credit the authors of those lovely textures! Here ya go:
• Marble Stone Stock - Enchantedgal Stock (minor edit for seams)
• Granite - Nexii (on Flikr)
• Wood - blank77 (used 3 times with colour changes)

Anything and everything is worth doing in Cycles!

But for the scene, yeah, tis good!

Hey, this looks pretty damn good. The egg shells look perfect, but the cracked eggs contents aren't quite right (but those sorts of items are quite hard I imagine). The white is a little on the opaque side - I think, and the yolk looks a little solid. Overall I think you've done a great job. All the textures look wonderful.

Thanks Any idea how I can make a more fluid-like yolk? I completely overlooked it if I'm honest!

Wish I could help but I'm fairly new to this 3d modeling business.

Very, very cool! I am seriously impressed.

I think an element to improve upon is the yolk. Maybe a little whiter in the whites and the yolk, I personally think, should be more like a liquid, if you are going for a truly realistic approach.

I think it would be interesting if for your next project you do a combination of ingredients (flour, milk and egg?) in a bowl, about to be mixed. Might be some worthwhile practice!

Thanks for the feedback Had great trouble with the egg whites, but overlooked the yolk. Any idea how I could improve the yolk?

Well, I don't know really. I guess I was nit-picking. But do you reckon you could make it look more like a liquid. Because at the moment it seems to be more of a solid.

I really have no idea.

I think I've worked it out; as far as colour and shape, it is OK, but it lacks any reflection - after all it is a wet, gooey, fluid.
