Ah, a PDW. Any particular calibre?

It looks like a P90. (SG-1 as my reference. I'm not a gun person...) I love how very business-like it is. Not very many extra flairs to it, just a simple gun made to do it's job.

you're right, it does look like it's based off the P-90. It certainly is a good choice for a scifi weapon, I mean hell, it doesn't look like any other conventional firearm in service with anyone.

It's good to have a gun that anyone can rely on and is easy to use.

Looks like a beefed out FN P90 to me X3

I didn't like the smaller caliber rounds in the P90 so seeing your Spec Ops rifle being a "RIFLE" gave me a hard on XD

5.56mm on something that looks like a P90... I would so love to own one!

I do like the whethered texture on it

Very P90ish, which is great because pilots and non operator special forces like to use either carbines or pdw type weapons.
You could do away with the hood up top completely as typically these weapons are focused more towards the open top rail. Like the scar [link] or Tavor [link]
This is common because personal preferences tend to extend to weapons as well in special forces units as well.
An earlier mention said the sights are too low, true and it is a common design "flaw" in the real world as well.
My suggestion would be flip up iron sights since they are typically for back up purposes anyway. [link] Here are the kind my unit currently uses as example.
You'll also see the charging handle would be extended out a bit since the pilot/operator is normally expected to wear gloves and would lose dexterity and tactile feedback. [link]

Either way very Ghost in the Shell design and very nostalgic to me as I love shooting bullpups.

It looks fairly plausible as a design but I would crit from a practical standpoint that the sights are mounted far too low in the weapon to actually be used by the shooter (but that is an exceedingly common design mistake even in professional work lol ).

wear looks inconsistent on the gun
any rhythm or reason to it?

just random really :d

Actually if you think about it, wear does not happen to objects evenly. Observation of reality will tell you that wear occurs first on raised areas and areas most in contact with abrading media/use.
