Description
Hehe, once again a speedpainting turned into something more.....but it took way too long, I didn't get to work on it lately, because school and other things were sort of eating up my time, but now I am finally done. and I think I am quite satisfied with it, got a decent amount of detail into this and quite enjoyed the painting process. except for the bridge. and the stairs. oh, the rocks were quite an effort, too. and the....Original 1 hour speedpainting: [link]
100% detail shots: [link]

And here is the piece that Β’mynti has come up with, after spending some more time on her speedpainting, too: [link]
I hope you enjoy it, as usual, the print will be up soon!

Can you imagine yourself walking up those stairs, only to see that personage? This is amazing! While it is dark, there is still a light feeling to it. Very well done!

Aww, thanks for those sweet words I am glad you like it...and I am sure there are such places out there
Well. you might have to take someone with a dark cloak with you to get the scene right, but that aside...

What is Speedpainting? Is it what I think it is? (technique or a software) THis is fabulous!

a speedpainting is a painting done in a certain, rather small time frame. for me that would be 1 to 4 hours per painting.
with this piece, though, the speedpainting has only been the basis. the whole piece that you see took a lot more time

Thanks for straightening me out. For Me Speedpainting would be one hour. Depending....and if I wanted to do a good job. I hate doing backgrounds....

ah well, you know, everyone interprets it differently, I guess. for me it is four hours at the most, for others it is five, some even call pieces done within a day or just one 'session' a speed painting.
but backgrounds are important, don't hate them they define your figure!

Heh when I do BG's it DETRACTS from the "action" in the foreground. The subject. Because of that my art sucks. And you know what? I'm not afraid to admit it. It takes attitude to say that to the world. (If I have something REALLY horrendous I don't put it up. Saves wear and tear on the eyes.)

hm, I think I will disagree there. a well done background tells a story about the subject, it creates a surrounding for the character, which helps the viewer understand how the character relates to what is around him.
It also adds depth to your picture, and of course detail It's really nice to create a sense of space with a piece, and then it won't detract from your subject, but compliment it. Of course, that has to be practised, and does not happen over night
But I am sure, if you give it a serious try, backgrounds will not be so hard for you

Really great water, color and lighting. The detail on the stairs is great too. I think the moss on the sides could be a bit more defined, but I like the softness to it.

Thank you for your comment, Michelle, and I agree, the moss is definitely not the best, I think I might be able to do better now...although the lighting situation in this painting really was not easy for that, haha
Anyhow, thanks a lot!

Well, I believe you got the lighting down very well, and I'm sure that was one of the hardest parts.
Just keep up the good work so untalented people like me can enjoy great art!

I love the perspective and lighting.
The whole thing kind of makes my wonder wander off to a distant land while I try to imagine the background history of the place you drew
But all I can really say is that it looks fantastic, in probably all the meanings of the word.
The water running on top of the small rocks that almost look like stairs simply grasps my attention with the bright green contrasting on the background.
The guy over there also adds a bit mystery to it, making you think about who he is and what he's doing there. Is he there to guard a building behind such a beautiful place? Or might he be hiding from someone?... Is he just chilling, sad or just needs a place to think?
This drawing stuns and inspires me in so many ways I can't even express myself properly. Just beautiful

wow thank you much for such an in-depth comment! It really makes me happy to hear that his got you thinking and wondering about the story of the image, that is exactly what I want. I like to give the viewer a few clues, and leave the rest to his imagination, to make up a story that he deems fitting.
Thanks again for those really nice words!

But this peice is unbelivable. Very nicely made, highly detailed, and just the concept is very good. Gave me a heap of ideas too... Might 3D this later (should you allow me to, of course).
Very nice, keep it up ^^ (And see you next TACs)
