Description "Kryptonite" from the planet "Krypton".
I use sardonic quotation marks because krypton itself is a chemical element; an inert gas. Solid krypton is a white crystal. It would be impossible even to synthesise "kryptonite", since krypton does not react with oxygen. Even if its existence was feasible, it would be a plasma , not a green crystal.

All sci-fi writers who want to work in Hollywood should be made to take a mandatory six-month course in general sciences.

Y'know, given your explanation, I am forced to conclude that though the science behind it is inaccurate, comic book explanations are far cooler than reality ever could be. So lighten up a bit.

sweet you know they are coming out with a new kryptonite in the comics, i got oine of the issues its a good one really they (the jl) are clearing the planet of green kryptonite and theres one piece left its the biggest hunk on the planet and its in the ocean so they go down to collect it and guess who stops them ...aquaman why cuz its right there at a spot that is historic and aquaman doesnt want them to mess with it
-Batman: theres no city here arthur
-Arthur(aquaman): There was, there were many cities under the sea, atlantis, sub diego, they all fell because someone stood aside. That ends.
i want to get the other issues but i have had problems in the past with finishing issues so ima probably have to wait for the novel if they make one XD

Lol. Is it me, or have super-hero comic plots been getting more complicated since the early days?

Thank you very much for the !

It seems that Kryptonite naturally occurs only in the shattered remains of Kal-El's homeworld. Why would a creature evolve to be vulnerable to its own planet?

Nice picture, by the way.

The only answer I can think of is that the planet Krypton itself may be an organism, and if it recognised Kal-El et al as parasites then it might have evolved a kryptonite surface to get rid of them.

Since Kal-El's race seem not to have eliminated the allergy from their gene pool, one may conclude that they are all inbred.

Thanks, by the way.

Hmmm... that's an interesting theory. Sort of similar to the Gaia theory regarding Earth, isn't it?

And I've now got this glorious image of a slack-jawed, buck-toothed, banjo playing Superman. Brilliant.
