Possible cover for Detective Comics number three
This is the second alternative Batman cover I've done here on dA. For those who don't know, in Detective 1 after the reboot, the cliffhanger at the end was that Joker had voluntarily had his face removed by new villain Dollmaker.
I actually think it's not such a bad idea. I mean, we all know it won't be permanent, sooner or later 'classic' Joker will return, but in the meantime it will be interesting to see where the writers take it.
Also this pose is yet another reference to Killing Joke, in case anyone hadn't already noticed

What I hate the most is that this is actually what's become of the new comics which makes me dislike DC Comics for a certain reason... this just puts bob kanes work to shame...

Well, Joker's been off the scene since he had his face cut off. They've actually had him not appear because they wanted to give newer villains a chance. Well, in Snyder and Capullo's current Batman run they plan to do a HUGE Joker story starting in October. It will last from issue 13 to 15 and will be called "Death of The Family". Thank you, I think this will be very interesting, it's been a while since we had a big Joker story. I know new villains need to be given time to develop, but you can't beat a good Joker story

Im sooo excited about the "new" Joker!!!
I mean, I just love what Morrison do to the Joker: The midnight clown, Oberon Sexton and all that (The bullet scar between his eyes. THE FUCKING SCAR!!!) and the permanent smile is awesome too but we must enjoy what the reboot is offering us and...well is not THAT bad

Morrison's Joker dialogue is just the best, in my opinion
I'm sure this new Joker direction will work out great, and even if it doesn't, in comics anything can be undone and reset.

No, I think it is a bad idea. Egotistical Joker would never do something to his face, nor would he allow anyone to touch him this intimately (meaning a surgery) and I don't buy what reasons he might of been given to do that. It's a horrible cliffhanger, I basically threw comic off.
But I do like your style.

Yep, shock value. That and make Dollmaker appear badass and dangerous by sacrificing Joker or OOCing him to actually respect that new villain. Well, I hate Dollmaker now. XD
Actually add Red Hood to that list, that was a piece of crap. And it's supposedly a Batbook.
I don't know, Dark Knight book was also very... odd. Mediocre. I only liked Batman and Nightwing.
I generally don't approve the reboot and don't like some creative teams' decisions, so I lack that trust. XD

I really love all the different textures you work into your drawings. It almost looks like a paper cutout. Very neat effect. And nice reference to TKJ to boot.

i agree with you i hate the new 52 the good thats come out of it are batman swamp thing nightwing and aquaman and even batmans flawed to a certain degree the rest of the dc universe can go to hell nobodys respectable anymore and have you seen what theyve done to there female cast

I've only really been reading Batman/Detective Comics since the reboot and they're both better than recent pre-reboot comics, which is a good thing
