I take any reasons to draw my EBs and OCs. So say hello to Faris and SerpentiumWhat the heck was he thinking? Seriously! What the heck was he thinking when he agreed to do that? Why did he let himself trick to do that? Shouldn't he be wiser by now? But no. Oh hell no. He totaly let his pride win and agreed to compete against that little zebra. What! The heck! was he thinking?
That is the dominant question in Faris' mind while slowly riding through this freaking cold forest on this freaking cold day. Some days ago Japheth, that little zebra-haired punk, told him of two big wolf-like bear-like things called Tokota and that he would be going to tame at least one of them. Faris didn't take him serious. There is no such thing like a wolf as big as a mount. That is fantasy stuff. Things that people imagine in their dreams. So he laughed at the shithead. But what Faris didn't know was that Japheth already owned one of these beasts and so Faris had a quite unpleasant moment with an angry wolfthing on his chest growling in his face and ready to bite him. At this moment the man wasn't really frightend of the Tokota. No he was all his life a hunter of dream demons and has seen bigger beasts and stranger shit than that. But he absolutely knew he needs one of this canines for himself. There was no way that Japheth could have such a cool wild creature as his own and Faris just has a unbearable cursed talking magpie. Especially seeing that that bird isn't strictly a pet in the first place but his landlady.
So it came, that Faris planned to get one of these Tokotas. But he had not a single idea how to tame these creatures. He nearly dismissed the idea until he talked with Archimedes about it. The golden eyed man knew about the creatures. He told Faris, that his husband would breed them and he could buy a puppy if he wanted to. But Faris didn't. He wanted to tame one of this beasts to show Japheth that he is superior.
And that is how Faris came to the situation he is now in. It is already getting dark and it is freezing cold. The stallion he lent from Archimedes looked damn nice, but - by god - he understands why the horse breeder was reluctant to give him that mount. The Mountain Ballator, despite his fit and majestic looking, is freaking slow. At first Serpentium, so the name of the horse, was quite the runner. For about five minutes. Since then the stallion refuses to walk faster and just trots his way. Faris tried to get him to run again, screamed and pushed him, but the horse is stubborn like a mule. He was thinking of turning around and get another mount. But to admit, that he had misjudged his competence and to ask for another horse? No! No freaking way!
Serpentium and Faris walk near a river when the stallion decides it would be time to rest. And so, without any further ado, he just stopped walking and lays down right where he stands. Faris can't believe what happens and screams in agony. "Oh you got to be fucking shitting me!" He shouts and stands up from the back of the horse to stand right in front if him. "You stupid mule! What the fuck are you doing? We didn't even walk for an hour. Why. The heck. Are you laying down already?" He shouts at the horse. But the stallion just looks at him without any interest and starts to nibble at some gras on the ground. That's the moment Faris looses his patience. He smacks the stallion against his big black horns and growls loudly. Serpentium looks up at his rider and for a second nothing happens. Then he strikes out with his head and bumps it into Faris stomach. The man falls flat on his back, getting knocked out all air. Frustrated he stands up and looks at his horse. "Fine! FINE! Go fuck yourself!" He screams bristling with anger and stomps off to the river. To calm himself down and to get some food he takes out his hunting knife and builds himself a primitive fishing scoop out of sticks. It takes a lot of time, but finaly Faris catches two fish and a fresh water eel. Serpentium looks up at Faris and seems quite interested in the catch and the man looks down on the horse. "What? You eat fish?" He asks and holds the eel infront of the stallion's nose. The animal tries to snatch it, but Faris pulls the fish back. "No way. You are a stupid horse that doesn't do what it is told to. No way you get anything from me." He says to him but Serpentium doesn't care and instead tries to get the eel a second time. For some minutes they both struggle against each other, but then stallion suddendly stops and just lays back down. It seems the horse is too lazy to fight anymore. Faris mutters under his breath and starts getting wood and some stones to make a little camp fire. He doesn't want to eat the fish raw so he wants to warm it and himself up.
Some time passes and he looks at his respectable small fireplace. "Not so bad if I might say." He compliments himself and looks down on the stallion that seems to sleep. Without any warning Faris sits down on the horses side and the Mountain's head lifts up in surprise. "Am I too heavy?" Faris asks and the stallion looks at him as if he tries to understand what the man is saying. "I make you a deal. I can sit here and you get the eel." Faris says and the stallion looks from him to the cooking fish over the fire. For the first time Faris thinks about the possibility that the animal actualy understands him. Because Serpentium actualy looks at the eel, then at Faris, back to the eel and then lays his head back on the ground as if he would actualy agree with that deal. The man chuckles softly and wraps his coat tighter around him. He got that fur coat from Archimedes. The man told him it would be the fur of an old Tokota his husband once had and it would hold him warm and attract other Tokotas. Little did Faris know that it actualy was just be a cowhide that Muro - a friend of Archimedes - sewed shed fur of her werewolf husband on.
Suddendly Faris hears a cracking noise like a breaking stick and he looks up from the fire to see a giant white-brown wolf just some feet next to him. That must be the Tokota Japheth was talking about. Faris keeps calm and just watches the big animal that slowly comes closer. It seems interested in the fish and Faris ponders what he should do now. He wanted to tame the Tokota but he never actualy thought about how he would do that. Serpentium wakes up from his sleep and looks strangely calm to the white Tokota. Somehow Faris thought the horse would be way more paniced of seeing a hunter that could be preying on him. The Tokota stands still just some feet away from Faris so he could not reach her without standing up. It gazes at him and the man smiles back. "Hello there. You don't need to be afraid. I won't hurt you." He says and slowly stands up. Step by step he walks closer to the wolf and kneels down to show that he would not harm it. "Come here. I have some tasty fish. Do you want one?" He asks in a soothing voice. He reaches out with his hand and can nearly touch the Tokota's nose.
From one second to another the white brown Tokota lady jumps away and Faris flinches when he hears Serpentium scream. For a second he thinks off the worst but when he turns around he can see that a second nearly black Tokota just jumped over the stallion and grabbed the stick Faris was roasting the fishes on. As fast as he can he runs towards the thief but both Tokota run off in the night. In seconds they are hidden by the darkness before Faris could do anything or Serpentium even got up. The man turns to his stallion and sees that the animal didn't even try to stand up, knowing fully well, that it could not outrun these thieving creatures. Faris wants to kick his mount, but doesn't, considering the big white fangs the ballator has and most likely would use to revenche himself. Instead Faris just turns away and gives out a cry of frustration. "I will tame them! You will see! I will freaking tame one and shove it Japheth in his stupid face!" He screams on top of his lungs. Then he turns back to Serpentium and looks down on the horse. For a moment there is silence, then the man waves aside. "Go back to sleep. I get us new fish." He mutters and walks off to build a new fishing rod. It has no use to cry over spilt milk. Tonight he will not tame anything.
