The news that Absint had passed over at YFS was hard to swallow. He was a stallion that had left deep hoof prints in the Sommer families hearts. Sam sighed hard. He would liked to have been there for his mother but she had just barked angrily back at him to continue with his job! They would soon meet up anyway, for the funeral. She had also dismissed Rodds attempt to come back home and had made him promise to continue with The White December. She wasn't alone. She had after all the staff with her.
But she had asked a favor of Sam. That when they were done at the Askeboda Opening Show they would bring the gelding Calamity back up to YFS since they had promised to look after him while the stable worked its way up on their feet again.

Sam stood with Degas in the isle. He had brushed her coat so it sparkled (almost) and braided her forelock, ready for the adventure she was heading to. He had only one leg left to bandage up before she was ready... well soon ready! Only the travel blanket was left...
William brought along her blanket and didn't rreeallyy dare to smile much in Sams presence yet. His father must have sent their deepest condolences to YFS about the loss.... many at RPS admired that gorgeous cremello studmuffin and luckily also had a bunch of horses with him in their bloodlines. "Are you excited?" he asked Sam with a soft expression.
Sam looked up at Williams words and offered him a soft smile too. It was a mix of feelings really. Excited as hell to go out and compete again but still heartbroken by the loss of Absint... and Kei was lingering in the back of his head as well.
"Yes?" He scoffed softly. "I mean I think you know what I mean. I'm really excited about the show but still... Absint had always been there.. always..." He took the wool-blanket from Will and placed it on Degas who looked super happy!
"I'm sorry Sam" he said and gave his friend a little hug and a pat on his back. "He truly was a gorgeous horse....you know what i remember most? that he once competed in a flat race" he chuckled a bit "back then i used to be jockey and...that cream flashlight was always stuck in my head"
"Aah haha oh that race! It was really just a mock-race, to see what he could do. But after all he was a eventer." Sam chuckled sweetly as he remembered that race. Even though they placed almost last Absint loved to run! He petted Degas neck as soon as the blanked was in place. "But now its this girls turn to see if she is a jumper or not! Right Degas?"
"For a swedish warmblood he sure did well" William giggled and stroke Degas too, who nickered happily from the attention x3 "maybe we should pack her up a companion?"
"Hehe yes... And a companion?" Sam raised a playful eyebrow at William. "You gonna compete there too or an actual companion horse for her?"
"AaahahahahhaiiiiWISH I wish but there's no time for proper training ...or call me lazy" he waved a hand "just a buddy in the trailer last time she appreciated it when we brought her to a breeding in the Netherlands"
"Sure sure! Absolutely! Have anyone in mind?" Sam looked at William with a smug smile. "But I really do think that you should compete more! Was such a long time now, right?"
"it wwaaaas but I don't know I .....don't place too good and just mess up our image, you do far better" he made a bitchy hand move and looked around "I guess Palatinus will be a good companion they are....basically a couple xD. "
Sam made a troubled smile.. "That shouldn't stop you Will!! Fight damnit xD" He looked up over at the isle were the stallion stood. "Palatinus it is then!"

Woohooo!! A little something something for the upcoming show over at Askeboda you guys!
