Description Let Me In

=========-----------

It's cold outside,
Will you let me in?

It's warmer in there,
Would you let me in?

It's lonely out here,
Will you let me in?

If I asked you nicely,
Would you let me in?

I feel empty out here.

=========-----------

Long exposure.
Powerline removed from sky.

For Angi...
Thanks!

The glow from the churches' interior is really something else, and i really like the way the sky came out. The complementing hues really does wonders for this piec. Great work

This pic totally reminded me of Revelation 3:20
"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. "

Its about how Jesus is on the outside of some churches and they won't let them in. Sad.

I love the pic!
A superb contrasty shot

~Peace~

Yum! That golden color PWNS!!!!!111one

I love the contrast between that and the muddiness outside. I do agree with ^ hesitation though, in that the break from symmetry should be much more definite. If you're gonna break a rule, break it big!

I have really been touched by the name of the photograph.

The photograph, on the other hand, IS all about the color. The gold of the arch, red of the stone, blue of the sky, all work beautifuly together.

The angle, on the other hand, look odd. It's not symmetric, but on the other hand, it's not asymmetric enough to make it the point, so it looks like it was a mistake. Thought knowing you, I know it is most definately not.

As a conclusion, I think to work with thos photograph, I would crop it vertical, leaving some space to the right and left of the two columns, straightening them up to be vertical, concentrating attention on the gold, which is what you want you to let you in, right?

Very nice shot Mental. I love the glow of the light here and how it's very consistant with the rest of the picture. I only wish the sky would have maybe had a sun shining through some clouds, but then again you wouldn't have gotten the effect on the building I don't think. The sky is the only part that irks me, just seems to plain. However, that doesn't really matter overall to me, I love the perspective and the idea behind the shot. Great work.

First, off, I really rather enjoy your colour use here. I think the red tones added to it help highlight the warmth from the focal points, and I also find my eyes travelling up and away to the sky as well.

I'm not sure about the angle however; did you intend it to be such, or is there meaning behind it? The perspective is a bit odd, it seems to be uniform from the roof, and it is only until you reach that bottom that that seems to go away. *ponders*

Either way, I think the warmth and tone of this work really shines through. I enjoy.

Glad you like the colour... it's completely natural. The red bricks, and the yellow stained glass windows really glow nicely. Only the city lights in the background enhance the sky’s colour.

I rarely explain too much about my photographs, but I will explain this because the meaning is a bit obtuse.

As far as the angle and perspective goes, that's a two-sided response. I decided on this angle and perspective for two reasons.

1. I had limited room to take this shot. The area where this church is located is on a hill, and there are steps leading up to it, as well as buildings on either side.

2. The image/words are meant to be metaphorical. Asking 'let me in'... not regarding a church, because God knows I've spent too much time in those as is... but into a persons sacred place, their heart. The angle works in reference to this by showing the overpowering angle of the building peering down at the viewer, leaning over, examining the person requesting person. The position of the building, being that of the person of power, holds control over whom they wish to acknowledge or let in.

The viewer is put into the position of the person wanting entrance. They can only hope that the other will allow them in, but they know full well that if the other person chooses to ignore them, they have no say in the matter and must accept. The words are related to the plea of the viewer, wanting something more.

See... this is why I don't usually explain my work. Long winded and poorly worded.

Behind every choice I make, behind every angle and colour of my work... there is reason.

Glad you enjoyed.

It was actually a long exposure night shot. The colours are natural, and with the exception of the border, no photoshop work was required.
